So, Joe D basically gave Sheed an ultimatum in off-season

Dumars sat down with him during the offseason. He told Wallace what he expected and put him on the spot.
"Let me know if you can do this, or not. If you can't, it's time to move you. If you can, let's roll ... Rasheed has made a commitment to me and this team that, 'I'm going to roll.'"

I don't think making their sit down "my way or the highway" discussion public was the best decision.
I'm also betting Dumars promised a contract extension this off-season if Sheed plays nice this season.

I didn't think this was news. It was already public knowledge Dumars took this stand not just with Sheed but the entire team.

Couple of interesting things from that interview - Dumars thinks Amir is going to be really good defensively and Tay has never been short of an ECF in his time here - that's pretty crazy when you think about it.

Billups, Rip, Sheed, and Prince have all made the EC Finals everyseason with Detroit.
Every Piston here has... except Hunter

That's pretty awesome. I bet there is no one in the NBA that can say that.

Thing is Tay has never played anywhere else. So he's always been in the ECF. The others can't say that.

Never thought of that before, it makes sense.

If Sheed can lead us to a championship season again this year extend away.

We already knew Joe D sat down EVERYONE (including Saunders) and told them exactly what he wanted out of them and that no one was untouchable (not even the coach). I don't see how this is news.
Dumars ain't playing around. He wants the bench developed, he wants the starters to bust ass and not lag off and he wants the coach stop coaching like he's coaching the Timberwolves and start coaching the Detroit Pistons. His plays from Minny don't work here. His expectations for playing young Garnett should not be the same for coaching young Amir.
If the Pistons don't make the finals this year, I see a major overhaul this upcoming offseason.

Well said. This is the year people. Either we win it, or massive changes are to follow.
With that said, I REALLY like our chances this year. Our bench is becoming just insane.

Yea, make major changes, unless you call a coaching change the major changes. Breaking up the team makes little sense, does that *ever* work. Very few teams compete for a championship consistently, the Pistons are one of them, they will continue to compete for championships into the future, with this core of players.

If we can't make it to the finals this year, I think we need a coaching change and we have to upgrade a starting position.
Most likely we'd have to improve by upgrading Prince or Dice.
