Yeah yeah, I know. We're rolling right now and the youngsters seem to be getting a lot of playing time, for now. But with the "opportunity" to snag Eddy Curry from a incompetent GM and a rotting franchise is just too inticing.

Anyways...here it goes.

Jason Maxiell, Primo Brezec, Antonio McDyess and a 2008 first-rounder for Eddy Curry and David Lee
I'm 100% percent positive it wont happen simply due to Joe D's loyalty to Dice for signing here. Just tell me what you think about it's plausibility and if you have any alternatives, or if you don't want one.

Apparently David Lee is one player the Knicks won't give up.

But I think if the Knicks offered us that, we'd take it in a second.

Hmmm... an overwieght center who does NOTHING well except score in the post; cant rebound, defend, pass, move, anything.

Sounds Perfect!!!!!!!

He is one of the players i would least want on this team

DEPTH CHART TIME, FOR VISUALIZATION PURPOSES.
Billups/Stuckey/Hunter
Hamilton/Afflalo/Murray
Prince/Hayes
Lee/Johnson/Hermann
Wallace/Curry/Samb
Is that team any better?

If it is for expirings and just for Curry, maybe, but I don't want to give up Max, and if we give up Dice, we are kissing off this years opportunity to get a Championship. I'd say no.

If this was the beginning of the 06-07 season in post-Ben aftermath, yea I'd take a gamble on Curry. But now, Curry sucks bad, and Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess, Jason Maxiell, and Amir Johnson provide us with enough solid play that we don't need Curry's fat and outta shape ass.

Fair enough. I was being hopeful that Curry would actually be able to turn it around here. In Chicago he was in a rebuilding process surrounded by inexperience, both in the coach and players. In New York...well you know. Parhaps a veteran team, along with Sheed's guidance, could straighten him out. Maybe this trade seems more plausible in the summer if we don't bring home a ship.

I didn't even look at your proposal and the answer is NO.

Thats to bad. Because if you did read it, you would have noted that I proposed sending him a treadmill. You know, to help that fat ass of his.

Joe would NEVER do that to McDyess.

However as has been mentioned Curry does score in the low post and NYK is a bad situation for anybody and I don't think Curry is a toruble maker in so much he is lazy. I wouldn't be opposed to him coming here say if he was bought out. I'd gladly have him over Maxey.

I think somebody like the Spurs should gamble on him.

I do think the Spurs are pushing to make a trade to keep up with the other big moves. But they need to have a reasonable defender next to Duncan in order to keep him from guarding elite PF/C for extended periods. Curry is far from a good defender.

At least you included David Lee. I still dont think you are a Piston fan. We dont need a one dementional Curry.

Does anyone else wonder how well players would do under the Pistons system with guys like Sheed and Billups challenging them to do better?

After having a hard think about the trade proposal of the OP, I'm still really considering it.

Sure, Curry is known around the league as only a scorer. But look at the teams he's played on. A very young Bulls team and the train wreck that is the Knicks.

If we were to put him beside Sheed in the starting lineup, with a long armed Prince also pulling down some boards, I think he could be a very servicable center, especially with the team pushing him to acheive.

Would be great if there was an alternate universe where JoeD could make these trades and see what intangibles a player has when in a succesful, winning situation.

Also, with bias aside, who do you think is the better player between Lee and Maxiell? Jury is out on that one for me....

Every Pistons big man other then Brezec > Curry.

Curry is the anti-piston in so many ways. What Curry needs he can no longer get. He needs Phil Jackson to get inside his head. But would you want his "Oliver Miller wanna-be" ass when you have Andrew Bynum?

My guess is that Curry will be harder to move then Randolph.

THE KNICKS NEED TO;

Fire Isiah in every way from every job, Hire Patrick Ewing (Bigs coach), give Herb Williams the gig for (at least) the remainder of this season and then cut the following- Malik Rose, Jerome James, and Quentin Richardson.

THEN, and only then, will they be able to start fixing their problems. They should have never traded Penny Hardaway and Antontio Davis for Steve Francis and Jalen Rose. Its that simple. I mean there are other moves they shouldn't have done but those two have to be right up there.

If Randolph had Curry's contract he wouldn't be too hard to move at all.

Randolph has skills and gives effort.

I knew he would struggle with the Knicks though.

What a terrible situation.

I'd rather have Brad Miller 100 times over than Curry.

Dimensional*

What is so wrong with Eddy Curry? BESIDES his lack of rebounding/defense (I know a smart-ass would have jumped all over that), obviously, which we know is sub-par.
Last season, as a 24 year old, he posted 19.5 ppg on 57.6% shooting. As for rebounds, he pulled down 7 a night in 35.2 minutes per game. The last time Rasheed played that many minutes (35+), he pulled down 6.2, 7, 7.8, 8.2, 7.4, and 6.6/7.0 (between Portland and us his rebounds somehow increased in fewer minutes per game).
Those are pretty comparable numbers. I could do further math but the point remains that, in similar minutes (granted, on different teams with differing roles/teammates), Curry isn't vastly inferior to Rasheed, our current starting center, at rebounding. Rebounding is a skill that, to an extent, can be taught, and is driven largely by effort, which can change depending on scenery. Curry's rebounding numbers could increase upon arriving in Detroit, and even if they didn't, the *quality* of his boards could.
He is an inferior defender (he's only averaged over 1 bpg once and Sheed's career average is 1.3/his steals high is 0.4 and Rasheed's average is 1spg), but I suppose that's where Rasheed could/would influence him.

I just don't see how a proven, low-post threat, making less money than Rasheed yet posting similar/better statistics (minutes-adjusted) is not worth taking a chance on, especially when you factor in his age.
and this trade proposal is certainly fair. David Lee>all of our bigs except for Rasheed. David Lee>Maxiell, potential-wise, height-wise, numbers-wise. and we keep Amir!

Since Nazr was a whipping boy, I can only imagine the **** Curry would bring.

I'd rather drag Terry Mills out of the mothballs.

Randolph's problem is his Flint entourage dubbed his "Hoop Family", they cause a ton of headaches wherever they are at to the point of making Randolph not worth the trouble.

All about "keepin' it real" though...
