If Bibby can get healthy and get back to form this could be a great trade for the Hawks.

That's a pretty solid starting 5.

I'm telling you guys... we should get in on the Kings fire sale.

Artest for a bag of balls (Brezec, Herrmann, Flip, and a late 1st) might get the job done. To me, this is an even greater indicator that the Kings just want to dump cap. I doubt they want to try to wait and do a sign and trade with Artest over the summer when they'll likely just have to take on bloated contracts in return.

Oh god, I hope this doesnt evolve into another "LETS TRADE FOR RON ARTEST" thread....

On the trade itself, it shows how low Bibby's trade value had dropped. The only reason the Cavs never got him is because they didnt have any non-bad contracts big enough to pull of a deal.

Its been pretty active around the deadline this year, with trades of Gasol, Shaq, Bibby, and possibly Kidd (though this ones looking less likely as the days go by) coming in the weeks leading up to the deadline itself.

Pretty interesting stuff, but Im still 99% sure we dont get in on it. I just dont see any realistic options out there right now. Rasheed Wallace was a situation that pretty much fell into our lap four seasons ago. I dont see something like that with the potential to arise here.

We could use help at the 3 more than at the PF/C spots with Sheed, Dice, Max, Amir, etc. Not to mention Artest is much better than Brad, and would really help against Lebron/Pierce come playoff time. Brad doesn't play much D, and has Chris Webber-esque foot-speed. On top of that, Brad makes a boatload of money the next 3 years, whereas with Artest, you could just cut ties at the end of the year if it doesn't work out.

Look... I doubt the Kings would go for that package, but if they want to be sure to get something out of the deal (a late 1st vs. letting him walk this summer) and if they'd rather deal him to the Eastern Conference... there aren't many other teams that would be a fit. We have the locker room personalities that can handle Ron Ron.

As for the deal itself... I think this makes Atlanta a tough potential playoff opponent. They now have really solid guard play to go along with 2 really good, high energy young bigs. If Smith can stay out of foul trouble... they'll be tough.

I'll believe it more if it becomes offical. That said if it does go through sending 4 players for 1, Atlanta could be after some players now.

I love the trade for the Hawks. Now Acie Law can apprentice behind Bibby for a couple years to boot.

They have a solid team right now, all that they need is experience, and Bibby brings a lot of that with him.

Mike Bibby propelled the Sacramento Kings on one of the longest playoff runs in their history with several clutch shots. Now he'll be taking his clutch ability East to help the playoff-hopeful Atlanta Hawks. The Kings have agreed to send Bibby to Atlanta for guards Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue, center Lorenzen Wright and forward/center Shelden Williams. Williams was the Hawks' first-round choice in the 2007 NBA draft. Hawks owner Michael Gearon Jr. said he expected the deal to be completed Saturday.

When contacted Saturday morning by The Sacramento Bee, Bibby said he wasn't surprised he was being traded, but was surprised he was headed to Atlanta. "I had some good times here in Sacramento," Bibby told the newspaper. "Sometimes you need a change and you never know where that might take you. I just prayed and asked for what might be the best for my family and this is what happened, so you can't question it. "I'll always have love for the people in Sacramento, the Maloofs and [President] Geoff [Petrie]." Each of the players the Kings are acquiring has an expiring contract, which should help Sacramento in its efforts to clear salary cap space to become a player in the free-agency market this summer. The Kings have lost three straight and have not been above .500 all season. They're 13 games back in the Pacific Division and are 11th in the West.

The Hawks will be adding a point guard they hope can stabilize a team that's lost four straight and has fallen to 21-28 after getting off to a 14-12 start and showing playoff promise. Atlanta is in 9th place in the Eastern Conference and 9
