herrman v.s hayes

who would you rather see play more ?

just seems to be mixed feelings on the board.

i personally love herrman he shoots the 3 well just as good as hayes and isnt that what we were told we brought hayes in for his shooting more then anything ?

I like Herrmanns willingness to attack the basket, and his passing up shots for his teammates. It seems Jarvis catches the ball and tries to create for himself everytime. When Jarvis' shot is off, he's a black hole.... especially on defense where he can't stay on his man.

Watching the game last night, I saw 7 different occassions where the other guys on the floor had to help out to cover Hayes' man and it left a shooter wide open.

I know Herrmann hasn't busted out yet, but he really hasn't gotten the chance yet. He had a couple good games, all followed up by no playing time whatsoever. Herrmann can actually defend PF's.... something Jarvis can't and he can knock down 3's like Jarvis.

Jarvis will play because Flip likes him, but I'd like to see Herrmann gets some burn to see what he can do.

it always comes down to flip with this team i mean what happend to playing the hot hand or benching someone thats ice cold. It always seems herrman brings energy and an edge when he comes in its exciting it might just be me lol. :nod:

From the sounds of things, Joe doesn't want to move either. He wants Jarvis for the playoffs to back up Tay and apparently, they want to retain Herrmanns rights for next year because Joe likes what he sees from him.

I'd be fine with giving all of Hayes' minutes to Herrmann for a few games to see how it works out. Hayes is just like a light switch, either on or off. And when his shot is off, he's thoroughly useless.

^ Very true. When I see Jarvis lose his man or stand there and watch an opposing player swoop in and take the rebound... makes me miss Delfino. :cry:

This is the perfect picture.... Herrmann makes a nice play to the basket... while Jarvis watches the action from behind the arc.

This pictures tells exactly what I have been watching with these two players.

Jarvis- 6 pts 2 rebs in 20 mins.
Fabio- 5 pts 3 rebs in 8 mins.

Jarvis will now play big minutes against the Bucks and Herrmann will get another DNP-CD.

I don't think either one of them is very good. It's kind of like choosing between a punch in the stomach and a kick in the shin.
They might as well stick with Jarvis, the pain they know and are familiar with.

Hayes is an exceptional shooter..... when his feet are set.

His problem is that he doesnt know his limits and I cringe everytime he takes a shot in motion cuz he cant knock i down.

Hermann looks ok, he hasnt reallly shown much in limited minutes, but he is better than Hayes when Jarvis shot is off. He is a RFA this summer and I think Joe D might choose Hermann over Hayes if it comes down to that

I'm not going to get into breaking down how to use both players most effectively on this team, but I will say this...if it's one or the other I'm going with Herrmann. More hustle, better D, better at attacking the basket. Jarvis has to get a lot better with his shot to overcome that.

the thing about jarvis to is he could go 0-10 shooting and he would still throw them up like he hasnt missed where as herrman can play better defense and i believe him to be an under rated rebounder although forgive me if im wrong :lol:

Herrmann actually isn't a very strong rebounder, but neither is Jarvis so it's pretty much a draw there.

Herrmann is a better man defender, Jarvis will gamble for more steals.

The worry I have with Herrmann is that he's completely unable to guard quicker wing players. Not that Jarvis is a stopper of any kind, but he can D up on 2s and 3s whereas Walter is really more of a 3/4 defensively.

That said, I stick by my earlier assertion that I'd be fine with showcasing Walter for a while to see what he has. If he shows the dynamic scoring touch he had at the end of last year, then park Arvis on the bench for good.

Between Chauncey, Rip, Tayshaun, Stuckey, Afflalo, and Hunter, we should be able to cover nearly any 2-guard in the league, at the very least. Hermann can guard all the 3's and 4's he likes, because the 1 and 2 are covered, defensively.
