Prediction: Ben Wallace a Piston again.

Being that Chicago will never be able to trade Ben, they will have to buy him out. The Pistons can get him for the Vets Min or Mid level and Pistons get Ben for less than the $12 Mil they were going to get him.

Why would they buy him out when they can just let him play next year?
Then the following season he's a huge $14 million expiring contract.
Makes more sense than paying him to not be there.
I doubt Ben would take little enough in a buyout to make it worth it for Chicago.

Yeah, can't see a buyout happening. Ben would have to agree to leave to much money on the table. Usually buyouts happen with guys in the last year of their deal where they still get a big portion of the prorated share of what remains on their contract. With Ben having some 25-30 mil left on the deal that just isn't likely to happen

Yeah Ben is owed $28 million.
I couldn't see him taking less than $20 million, leaving $8 mil on the table.
Remember he just left a championship team for a few extra millions.
I can't see Chicago still paying him $10 mil per season to play elsewhere.

Very bold prediction here, Bulls will never buy out Ben's huge contract.

Espicially if they even have the slightest notion he would come here

He's not worth the MLE anymore. And for the veteran's minimum? We have way too many better guys on our bench right now.
The Ben Wallace right now is nothing like the one that signed with Chicago.

Prediction: Ben Wallace will never be a Piston again.
The team didn't skip a beat when he left.

Rumor is he will be traded to the Cavs.

Supposedly the Cavs wanted a first to take back Wallace's contract, and the Bulls were refusing to give one up.
It will be interesting to see what gets done... perhaps a swap of firsts.

I have to question the wisdom of that for the Cavs. Is a washed up Ben W really going to make Lebron happy? or the team better? Chicago fans cheer when he sits out a game. just go read their board.

Ben would be better than Big Z - more speed for the Cavs.

I don't want Ben. He wanted to get his big payday with another team so badly, may as well let him stay somewhere else.

Dan Gilbert is a Piston fan who owns the Cavs.

Failed in my prediction. Big Ben can now play some PF next to Big Z.

Been saying for 3 years that moving back to PF could prolong Bens career. His advantage was his athleticism - as he loses a step his size becomes a bigger liability at the 5. At the 4, not so much.

True. Ben will definitely help the Cavs as that is a good scenario for his skills.

Im not sure how much Ben adds to the Cavs. I know the Cavs are a good fit for what he can bring, but thats what everyone said about the Bulls.
I could certainly see him doing better with a position change though.

I'm sure out of the 4 players they received, Ben Wallace might be the last player they wanted.
The only way Cleveland could move Hughes' terrible contract was to take back Ben's equally terrible contract.
It will be interesting to see how minutes are divided at the PF/C spots. I'm not sure Ben will get more than 24-26 MPG. Smith deserves just as much if not more playing time than Ben.
