I don't know - I'm not sure I like this trae for Cleveland - reeks of desperation. Hughes handled Billups - who's going to do that now. Szczerbiak is a pure shooter and could be motivated, Ben is useless offensively, but gets up for games against us, and Delonte was a non-entity in Seattle.

Actually I think Bulls win out on this trade.

I think it greatly improves the Cavs offensively, which is where they needed their improvements. West is a really good player who was just in a bad situation in Seattle. And Wally and Smith can really help them put up some points. Ben maybe will be revitalized for them, who knows.

I think the Cavs just got scary good too. They have Z and Wallace as the front court and Smith and Varejao on the bench, a good pg and a great shooter who Lebron can kick the ball to. They done good.

I hope we did land Magloire and Dixon though, would be nice.

Well the Cavs get 4 players who are good enough to be in a playoff rotation on a good team.

I think that says a lot. They have a better bench then us for sure.

A Big Z, Wallace, Lebron frontline is going to be good. Z is a good offensive center, and Lebron leads the league in scoring so these are two players who are ideal to have in a frontline with Ben.

This is a great trade for the Cavs. Hughes and Gooden will only take you so far. Wally is a lot more consistent and I think Ben will wake up now that he knows he has a chance at another ring. And Joe Smith is a solid player which gives them more depth. This is not very good news for us.

Well, seeing now that Delonte West (who I like a lot) and Joe Smith were also included in the deal makes a big difference.

The Ben Wallace era in Chicago has come to an end. little more than one and a half seasons after Bulls general manager John Paxson and then-coach Scott Skiles made a splash by signing Wallace away from the Detroit Pistons for $60 million over four years, the Bulls have agreed in principle to ship the center, along with Joe Smith, to Cleveland for Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden.

The Bulls also included a future second-round pick. The Cavs included Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown to make the deal work under the salary cap. The trade awaits league approval but is expected to go through."I had a good time here," Wallace said Thursday. "I enjoyed being one of the guys. And I had a good season last year."

This does reek of desperation to satisfy Bron-Bron. If this trade goes through, that is.

I think Larry Hughes may have the worst contract in the league, but I'd actually think I would take him over a declining Ben. Also, he was the main guy that handled Billups. I like Delonte West, but I wonder if they will continue to have that success.

Also, I think they will miss Drew Gooden more than they think. For whatever reason, he always seemed to play well against Detroit.

One thing I'm kinda curious about is if Ben will try and get out and break w/ BronBron. He's always been in a slow, walk it up type offense but he's still pretty quick and has good hands. If LeBron and West push the ball Ben might be able to run that wing and get a few easy baskets that way.

Cleveland hasn't done a whole lot of running themselves, but I'm not sure how much of that is personnel and how much their coach. All their fast breaks were basically generated off steals in the passing lanes w/ LeBron or Hughes having a straight away, but they didnt push off of things like rebounds or made baskets.

According to Brian Windhorst of the Akron Beacon-Journal, the NBA gave the Cavaliers, Bulls and Sonics an extension to finalize their deal.

Windhorst reports that Chris Duhon will not be dealt to Seattle.

Im not too concerned, Juan Freaking Dixon just put us over the top!

Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden to Chicago, Ben Wallace and Joe Smith to Cleveland. The Cavs' Ira Newble and Donyell Marshal, and Chicago's Adrian Griffin, to Seattle for Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West.

It's the very last name that makes me like this deal a little more for Cleveland. West can be a terrific guard for them playing off of LeBron and can knock down the open jumper. He also gives them size in the backcourt. Wally World is going to shoot 53, 54 percent from the floor until he dies, and certainly will spread the floor and give LBJ more driving room.

Ben is Ben. He's still a good rebounder. But he's not the man-on-man defender that he used to be, and he's a liability on offense. Maybe the Cavs go small at the ends of games. At the least, LBJ is surrounded by more veteran guys who've gone deep into the playoffs.Chicago blows up a team that wasn't working, and gives Joakim Noah all the minutes he wants in the middle. Hughes can score, allowing Ben Gordon to come off the bench. Seattle continues to amass expiring contracts.

I agree with those who think this trade drips of desperation. Wallace is 7 years older than Gooden and restricts what the Cavs are able to do, before they could play any combination of Z, Marshall, Gooden & AV. Now I don't know that AV and Ben works together at all. Gooden also always seemed to **** Rasheed off and get him off his game, with the relationship Ben has with the Pistons, I don't see another altercation that lead to McDyess getting tossed in game 5. Ben also has a worse contract than Hughes and was previously viewed as one of the most untradeable players in the league.

I don't really know what Wally gives them that Gibson or Jones didn't before, except he's a couple of inches taller. Hughes really affected Chauncey defensively, but now Chauncey will be facing up against Delonte (with no playoff experience) and Gibson, while Wally will be guarding Rip...is he even going to have legs to take a jumper after chasing Rip around all game?

I think before the Cavs may not have been the most talented team, but they showed the last two years they matched up very well against the Pistons and Lebron can win any series by himself. Now I think the Pistons match up much better. This deal made the Cavs much older and in my opinion pretty much guarantees that Lebron is gone in a couple of years unless the Cavs are able to use Wally, Ben or Z's contracts when they are expiring to get Lebron's #2, but by then it would have to be a straight salary dump (not that its never happened before). When Lebron can be a F/A, Z will be 36, Ben 37 and Wally 34.
