Murray waived
The Pistons made it official -- Flip Murray has been bought out and placed on waivers. Still waiting to see if Juan Dixon passed his physical.

Expected.

And good for Flip. For as much as we often criticized his lack of consistency and shoot first mentality the guy never publicly complained, even after being put on the inactive list. I sincerely hope he's able to land in a good situation for himself. I like guys who keep their mouths shut and continue to work hard.

Sign Dale, not Magloire!

Flip was the worst player in our rotation this year when he was playing, but he wasn't terrible. He's not a PG he did a mediocre job playing one on TV.

I think he got extra hate because he's old and shoot first.

No one here wants to see a guy like Flip playing regular minutes because he had no future with this team.

That said, I'm glad he's gone :)

Given the fact that Joe was trying to deal for Magloire yesterday, I have a feeling that Davis was just visiting when Detroit was in Atlanta and that if he was asked about returning, he indicated that he was happy being retired.

This was the inevitable waiving Murry, who hasn't played in a long time. I do expect us to bring in a big guy in place of him though, just a matter of when it will be made official, sure looks like it is going to be DD.

The Pistons, as expected, placed guard Flip Murray on waivers Friday. If he clears waivers, the Pistons will buy him out of his contract and he will be free to sign with another team.

To fill the vacant roster spot, Pistons president Joe Dumars is poking around looking to add another big man. Former Piston Dale Davis, who hasn't played all season, is only one candidate. Dumars said he was considering other candidates, though he would not name names. Presumably, P.J. Brown, who also hasn't played all season, is one of those candidates.

PJ Brown would be cool. Don't know if he still has game but he was always solid.

Agree with Hunter's take - at least he didn't bitch while he was here, and I wish him good luck.

As predicted, the Pistons placed Ronald (Flip) Murray on waivers Friday afternoon, clearing his roster spot one day after trading for another in combo guard Juan Dixon.

Murray will be a free agent and can sign with any team if no one claims the rest of his $1.89 million contract in the next 48 hours.

The Pistons will then be able to scan the free agent market and see if he can find a big man. Former Piston Dale Davis is likely to get consideration.

Murray has been a true professional while being here, he accepted his role and never complained about it.

I would love to get P.J Brown, i just hope he doesn't sign with New Orleans first.

A day after acquiring Juan Dixon from Toronto, the Pistons have released Flip Murray.

The Detroit Pistons have requested waivers on guard Ronald "Flip" Murray.

Murray, who signed as a free agent with the Pistons in July 2006, averaged 7.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 19 games this season. The five-year pro has played in 309 NBA games with Detroit, Milwaukee, Seattle and Cleveland.

A roster spot opened for Detroit when the Pistons waived Flip Murray on Friday. The Pistons had spent most of this season exploring a possible trade involving Murray, but were unable to reach a deal. If Murray clears waivers over the next 48 hours, which is expected, he will become and unrestricted free agent who can then sign with the team of his choosing. Whatever team he signs with, Murray is expected to get the veteran's minimum, pro-rated for the remainder of the season.

ONE FLIP DOWN: As predicted, the Pistons placed Flip Murray on waivers. The Pistons will buy him out, and Murray will be a free agent if no one claims the rest of his $1.89-million contract -- about $554,000 -- in the next 48 hours. The Pistons will then be able to scan the free-agent market for a big man. Former Piston Dale Davis will get consideration.

The Boston Celtics, according to reports out of Beantown, have Flip Murray on their radar. Their first choice would be to add Sam Cassell, but the Clippers have yet to decide if they are going to buy him out. Another possible destination for Murray is Washington. Murray would be an ideal fit for the Wizards' style of play.

From the sound of it, Dale Davis might be joining the Pistons during this Western trip -- possibly in Denver. All that's left for him to do is pass a physical. Don't worry, though, he is coming in as an insurance policy. He is not going to be a threat to Amir Johnson's or Jason Maxiell's minutes.
