Primo Slams Vincent!
The Charlotte Observer -
Primoz Brezec, who spent time with the Bobcats and Pistons before landing in Toronto last Thursday, doesn't have too many kind words for Charlotte head coach Sam Vincent, according to the Charlotte Observer.
"Sam Vincent, he changed it up," Brezec told Toronto's Globe and Mail newspaper. "He wanted to go more run-and-gun. I have no problem with that, I can run three days in a row. But I think I set a record in the NBA; out of 50 games (actually 18) I started, I didn

Former Pistons big man Primoz Brezec , talking to the Toronto Globe & Mail, about his short stint in Detroit: "Great players, great organization. I don't have one bad word, one bad thing to say. Joe Dumars is the man. The first to the 15th guys make you feel like family. But no playing time, man. No playing time."

That's funny. Maybe it's how 'Sheed came up with the nickname.
Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace said the only nickname he's come up with for Brezec so far is "gangsta."
Told that Brezec was seen jogging through the streets of Indianapolis during the time when most players are just waking up from their afternoon naps, Wallace said, "See, that's gangsta."
Turns out Brezec just wanted to get to a nearby Starbucks for a hot chocolate before the first bus left for Conseco Fieldhouse.

Recently traded center Primoz Brezec spoke out after the Pistons swapped him for point guard Juan Dixon right before the trade deadline.
Brezec talked with nationalpost.com about his role with the Pistons, how he'd like that to change in Toronto and his meeting with Toronto's GM Bryan Colangelo after his trade. Here are some of the highlights: "The first thing I said to Bryan was,

I almost feel like Primoz is a character from Semi-Pro or something...
I think this is a trade that will work for both teams. At least Brezec may give Sam Mitchel some competition for best quotes.

I do what I feel, not because people ask me to do this,” Bargnani says, holding his hands over his head and doing a strange chicken dance.

It's a shame Primoz Brezec didn't quite fit here in Detroit because he seems like he's a pretty fun guy.
Brezec, a 7-1 Slovenian centre who Mitchell said has a propensity for using the words "gangster" and "pimp," had a workman-like 11 points and three rebounds in his Toronto debut. But his first-half comedy spree, as much as the production itself, ignited the Air Canada Centre.
After his first basket, a tip-in, Brezec raised his arm with one finger pointing up, signaling either the number of baskets he had registered to that point, or his new jersey number. None of the above, actually."I did it in Charlotte (when) I got the first basket in franchise history," Brezec said. "So since then, it's just something I do."His antics did not stop there. After a pass that led to a Carlos Delfino layup, he crouched and gave the crowd a fist-pump. He completed the trifecta by slapping the backboard after an uncontested dunk. What is it with these former Bobcats throwing around the word 'gansta' anyway?

Primoz Brezec has been in uniform for three games against the Pacers this season. All with different teams. Selected 27th in the 2000 draft by the Pacers, Brezec had three calm years as a seldom-used backup.
He followed with three-plus seasons in Charlotte, which selected him in the 2003 expansion draft, before the reality of the NBA set in. He was traded to Detroit in January, then to Toronto shortly before the trade deadline last Thursday."That's the life," Brezec said before the game. "When I got in the league, (Pacers scout Misho Ostarcevic) told me my bags always had to be ready." Brezec was happy to get out of both Charlotte and Detroit. He believed Bobcats coach Sam Vincent had not been honest with him, and he didn't see a second of playing time with the Pistons.
It could be different with Toronto. He scored 11 points, hitting all five field goals, in 13 minutes in his debut on Sunday. He didn't play against the Pacers. "Everyone knows I've been a great guy and worked my (behind) off," he said. "I never take shortcuts. I'm just looking for a fair chance. "I think this is my final stop in the NBA. Hard work has to pay off."

Primoz Brezec was mostly seen -- on the bench -- during his brief stay with the Pistons. But now that he has been dealt to Toronto, he's being heard. A few snippets from Gangsta's entertaining Q&A with the Globe and Mail:On hearing about Wednesday's trade: "To tell you the truth, at first, I wasn't that excited. I wanted to stay in Detroit and win a championship."

Primoz Brezec is a seven-footer with a difference. The-seven-foot-one Slovenian Centre is as garrulous as countrymate Rasho Nesterovic is quiet. He likes calling people Gangsta and enjoys verbally jostling for position as much as working the real estate under the boards. Drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats off the Indiana Pacers roster in the expansion draft, Brezec enjoyed a memorable 04-05 season where he averaged 13 points and 7.4 points a game for coach Bernie Bickerstaff. At 28, Brezec is playing for his third team this year. The Hornets dealt him to Detroit who flipped him to the Raptors on Feb. 21. Raptors.com writer Mike Ulmer interviewed Brezec and asked him about his first dunk, the mountains of Slovenia and the notion that there was a hip, urban guy buried deep inside the seven-foot-Slovenian.
Mike Ulmer: How old were you when you dunked the first time?
16 years old. It was at practice in Slovenia. It took me a long time, an hour and a half; I didn

Brezec Still Upset With Charlotte's Vincent
ESPN - 03/02 - 10:52 PM ESTPlaying in Charlotte for the first time since he was traded earlier this offseason, Raptors center Primoz Brezec is still upset with Bobcats coach Sam Vincent, according to the Associated Press.
"I've been in this league for seven years. People know what I can do," Brezec told the AP. "Sam Vincent didn't know what he got."
"I have no problem with Sam Vincent. I was just frustrated that he said that he didn't get 12 or 13 points from me that he needed," Brezec added. "Of course he didn't get it because I didn't get the ball. Come on."
"If you look at the teams back in the day, I got buckets, I got stops, I got rebounds. Don't talk about me if you don't know my game."
