Gerald Green in Detroit?

He was waived by the Rockets earlier to make room on their roster; could we release anyone to pick him up? He's very talented and would probably come by at a cheap price; how would you like him in a Detroit uniform?

He isn't very talented at all.
Have you seen him play?
He's very athletic.
If he was an "average" athlete he wouldn't be in the NBA.

Could he beat out Arron Afflalo in a rotation? Now? Next year? Ever?

I think he would; I'd also rather have him then Jarvis.

I hope you've never seen him play, because if you have, then your bball IQ might be even lower than his (which is close to being physically impossible). Watch him run around the court like a chicken whose head is cut off and then tell me if the Pistons can use that scrub.

I've watched him play one game; where he set career high in points.

Our roster is set for the playoffs.
Get used to it.
And if Gerald Green was good enough to help a playoff calibur team, the Rockets wouldnt be waiving him right now.

Wasnt Green the next coming of Tmac? I think Wilbon was talking like Green was the best player out of the draft!

Green is crap...
He's an athlete, and nothing more, he's quite possibly got the lowest BBall IQ of any NBA player, EVER

He's an athlete that hangs on the perimeter, can't dribble, can't dunk on people, shoots flat footed, has low bball IQ and can't even get PT on the Wolves who only have 1 SF.

I figure there had to be something wrong with him if he couldn't make the rotation on a terrible Wolves team. When I saw him, he was part of some good plays here and there, but if he got yelled at for missing defensive assignments or didn't get a call on offense, he'd just pout and jog back (probably missing another defensive assignment). It worked kind of in a vicious cycle that way. He was fairly productive in his Boston days, but he hasn't made any real progress. I think a lot of his problems are from the neck up.
I think some GM will pick him up, but it's pointless for a contending team since he can't be put on a playoff roster.

Sure, but for the Mad Ants...not as a Pistons allocated player either.
Rockets cut him because he didn't try...doesn't that make him a Knick prospect?
He showed some promise with Portland, then got traded to Boston where he actually decent on a bad team, then he got traded to Minnesota where he couldn't find playing time on a really bad team, then he gets traded for Kirk Snyder and a 2nd to play (pretty much) for his local NBA team where they keep him for ONE WHOPPING GAME because his practice habits are crap.

Green never played in Portland. He was the 18th overall pick by Boston in the 2005 draft, I believe.
The more I hear about Green, the less I like him. Intially, I thought he was a steal for Boston at 18. But, it seems that his attitude and his low BBIQ is killing his chances in the NBA. Sad to see so much talent go to waste.

Thats the way of it, frequently. Scouts will look at a guy with freakish athleticism when he's younger and think his game will "polish" as he matures.
Just look at Darius Miles, Quintel Woods, et. al. Never did much in the league besides jump high (though Miles looked like he might have had a shot before he got hurt).

I thought he played for Portland...then I thought about it...my bad.
