I don't think theres a place for me here. :(

Don't particularly see this thread going anywhere (no definite topic), but I'll let it ride for a while.

Go Pistons! Hooray! We're teh best team in the ******* league!

No, doesn't work....

On an optimistic note, however, we're still a top contending team, we've got some young talent to grow on, and we've got one of the best records of the decade.

For all of the critiques leveled against this team (many of them my own) on this board as they relate to our actual title hopes this year, I think we all know how lucky we are....

This gon' be one EMPTY ASS THREAD.

How's this for optimism? Because we won a championship we can never be considered the Buffalo Bills of the NBA!

Wait until we blow someone out before you start this thread. You know that after a road loss on a back to back to a good team that the pessimists will be out in force, LOL.

It's really not that difficult to find something positive to say about this team.

-They have won 50+ games for 7 consecutive years now.
-They've been to 5 consecutive Conference Finals.
-They've overcome all the questions surrounding the departures of Larry Brown and Ben Wallace.
-They've broken countless NBA records.
-They've proven that on any given night they can grind out wins or run and gun to the victories.
-They have a couple nice young guys that look like they can stick around for awhile.
-During the past 4 seasons, they been to 2 NBA finals. During that time, only San Antonio can say the same. They just won both, whereas Detroit won one.

Detroit doesn't win every game, no team does. But I think fans take for granted how wonderful this team has been over the past 6-7 years.

Yes, people like to make smartass remarks about the Pistons being the Braves of NBA, but I would rather enjoy watching my hometown team be successful year in and year out and know that there is a chance of a championship than to be the Milwaukee Bucks and just pray that the tanking pays off.

We're just trying to figure out what will and what won't work against the Cavs and the Celtics and will step it up come play-offs

How he heck can you guys not be optimistic? Have you seen the Spurs in the past week? Now there's a reason to be down on your team lol.

^Don't worry, even if you flame out in the playoffs this year you'll still hoist another championship banner in a year or two. :-?

I really like our chances of getting 50 wins and advancing past the first round.

In all honesty, we really have the 3rd best chance at winning a championship. The only teams I'd put ahead of us are Los Angeles and Boston.

I mean, who else is there?

Dallas? The Kidd trade ruined their chances.
Phoenix? They are on a winning streak, but I still don't think it'll work out.
Cleveland? Good luck getting past Boston THEN Detroit THEN whoever the West spits out.
San Antonio? Always a tough team, but they just don't seem to quite have it this year.
New Orleans? Too inexperienced, and lack the interior D (26th in blocked shots).
Utah? I just don't see them going all the way this year. I think they lucked out last year with their second round opponent.
Orlando? Just don't see them as contending yet. I think they need to improve their backcourt some more first.
Golden State? Their offense is spectacular, but you saw how Utah killed them in the second round.
Houston? I just can't see them doing it without Yao.

^that's reasonable.....but the 2 teams that give us the most fits just happen to reside in the East. Any other team can beat us, but they probably wouldn't make us look miserable doing so.

But, when you think about it, we only have to face one of them. We're 1-2 against Boston (although that final game was kind of a wash) and 1-1 against Cleveland. It's not like "All hope is lost." We just have to beat one of them in the playoffs (should we make it to the ECF).

Tonights game isn't really helping me stay positive.
