I sure hope nobody is hoping for losses. I feel that Rip coming off the bench is the best move for the team at the moment. I feel if Rip didn't agree to this move, he could possible be traded

JO is crap but he expires in 2010 and gets AI off our team and annoyances off our board so that part works for me.

Graham expires so no worries there.

What it comes down to then is Max for Bargnani and I would mos def do that deal for the future team.

No need to have a ton of capspace in 09 when the big prizes are all in 2010.

Fanboys are not worth us trading for that bum. Maybe i'm in the minority here but I dont mind some of said "fanboys". Ambiglight is one such guy whom i enjoy reading his thoughts. its obvious the guy knows basketball, just happens to live in MI and like AI.

Everyone overrates their team's players and that includes us. Rip has done a lot but is limited in ways that affects Stuck (inability to create & his sets take a bit to develop) just the same as playing with AI affects Stuck both positively (able to handle to free him to score) and negatively (has to defend SGs). I just happen to think Stuck/AI is the more dynamic backcourt to start games. Rip will still get most of his PT with Stuck in the game so we shouldnt be worried about Rip having to create off the bench. Just b/c he's on the bench doesnt mean he'll be playing with only bench guys exclusively.

Bargnani is an interesting player but i just think he's on a hotstreak considering how crappy he has been in his career prior to the last month or so. I'd do Max for Bargnani in a heartbeat but no way I give up AI and get back the corpse of Jermaine O'Neal.

I didnt know being a fan of a team despite whatever reason you became a fan for was a problem if the reason wasnt love of Detroit or loyalty to players. I want us to field the best team possible so even if Joey Harrington became our starting PG and leads us to a 'ship, I wouldnt be mad he displaced Stuck. My reason for becoming a Piston fan was b/c i moved to MI in '01 and Piston games were one of the few games i could get without needing cable. If thats not how the rules of Piston fandom work, oh well too f'ing bad 'cause i aint leaving.

What if cutting Afflalo led to us winning a championship?

This move had to be made. And whoever is a fan of a team but hopes they lose because 1 player really isn't a fan.

Hamilton should be starting - hes just as good on offence as AI at this point of their respective careers, hes a better defender (doesnt gamble on steals), hes bigger (not such a huge issue with Stuckey at PG though i guess), and hes a main stay of the team...

**** Iverson

Rip can't penetrate or create his own shot like Iverson. Not even half as good at that.

Rip is a spot up shooter.

both

I don't think we can win it all without a better frontcourt anyway. If we win a lot then we have to endure alll the bois saying how AI lifted us from the gloom. We also get a lower draft pick as a result of winning just enough to make the playoffs but not enough to succeed in those playoffs.

If we lose then I will be pissed that we wasted that trade for expiring dollars when we could have had that AND some extra youth to build with AND have a less obnoxious board in the meantime.

As far as I'm concerned both Rip and AI can come off the bench(or just sit there an rot) and Afflalo can start and get some more development time.

It seems like you are more concerned with this message board then the teams good.

Yes but Stuckey can, Stuckey penetrates, Rip shoots mid-range, they compliment each other

Stuckey and Iverson both want to get to the basket...makes more sense to have Hamilton and Stuckey start in my book

You know Iverson is a good player but he is a cancer and has been wherever he's has played in the NBA. I don't care what he says it's still all about him and his ego and he will never be a team player. I can't wait to rid of that idiot.

Back to the OP's stupid bait question/thread topic...

So far noone replied that they want us to lose just because Rip was benched. Many here just wanted one of the 2 SGs to take a seat to minimise smallball and now that is the case. Cool Beans, as it should hopefully lead to more victories.

and

We still could use a solid big man, hopefully Joe can get us one before the deadline.

Nobody.

At least thats what I'd expect.

Was anyone who disagreed with the AI trade rooting for us to lose after we got him?

Didn't think so.

Thats not the way it works, at least not of you're a real fan.

AI is probably a better fit off the bench, as Afflalo is really the only guard we have that seems like a natural fit to play alongside him, but they'll probably still see some time together. That aside, I'm not going to be in moral outrage over Rip being benched. He'll still get plenty of minutes.

I just wish this "meeting" had happened before we dropped 5 straight. Doubt there is much controversy over that sentiment.
