Steve Young vs Tom Brady and Peyton Manning

Post#1 » by oaktownwarriors87 » Wed Dec 20, 2017 11:25 pm

I'd like to Cherry pick some number to show how awesome and underrated Steve Young is

Steve Young, as 49ers Starting QB
-Lead the league in passer rating in 6 of 8 seasons
-Lead the league in Y/A in 6 of 8 seasons
-Lead the league in TD% in 3 of 8 seasons
-Lead the league in Cmp% in 5 of 8 seasons
-Rushed for 2,865 yards and 33 TD's in 112 games.

Brady and Manning, combined
-Lead the league in passer rating 5 times in 33 seasons
-Lead the league in Y/A 2 times in 33 seasons
-Lead the league in TD% 3 times in 33 seasons
-Lead the league in Cmp% 3 times in 33 seasons
-Rushed for 1,629 yards and 35 TD's in 516 games.

No need. I have always thought he was underrated. He had Montana accuracy with better physical tools.

Ahh these stats are so cherry picked.
BUT I agree Steve Young deserves more love and he's definitely in my top ten quarterback list. Even close to no. 5 spot.

Me and my buddy were having a discussion the other day about the top QBs. I think if I have a draft pick, my big board would be MAnning, Montana, Brady in some order but after those 3, my next group includes Young, and I'm not sure he isn't the top pick of that group.

Steve Young is definitely one of the best defenders, nobody seems to argue here.

Steve Young is one of my favorite players. These statistics for those players are worth sharing.

Without a doubt, these players are great in their field, and it's hard to know which one is better!

Where would Aaron Rodgers/Pat Mahomes be for you?

Problem is he wasn't as good in the playoffs, especially conference championship games.

Do you think it was just small sample noise or something truly wrong with his game?

He had 6 touchdowns in a single Superbowl and we're wondering if he could play well in a conference championship?
