Have you seen the Falcons talking to anyone?

Thanks.

Last night they met with Iupati, Odrick, Carrington, and Lane. They're one of the few teams with anyone still here so I'll pay attention after South practice today.

I don't think Graham is a 3-4 OLB, or 3-4 end for that matter. He's a 4-3 DE in a mold of Robert Mathis or Trent Cole and he's going to be every bit as good as either of those two.

Iupati started the week real strong but he's kind of leveled off. He didn't do real well at LT today and he had a bad hold yesterday when Carrington whipped around him. He's still far and away the best lineman here, probably the only 1st rounder here...and there might not be any 2nd rounders here either.

ive seen this kid iupati, and i believe he is a guard. out in space he looks like trouble. trouble for him and mobility. but as a guard where you dont have to go out wide and chase a blitzing backer or end, i think he fits. why? his legs and lower body look massive. i.e. less mobility. but definitely a plugger up the middle as guard.

I've got to imagine we'd like to lock up Clabo long term at right guard and then target Iupati for LG.

Thanks again.

Did Daryl Washington's awareness and length still show stand out at the Sr. Bowl?

I've only watched highlights he looked perfect for a read & react type of scheme; what's your take on his transition to the NFL? It seems to me the 4-2-5 to 4-3 shouldn't be a big deal given the talent.

oops! Just found your write up on Daryl Washington's here:

Is Tebow gonna transfer over to a wr, te, or rb now? What a terrible senior bowl. I'm starting to feel bad for the guy.

I don't want to speak for him, but I think this week will make him more receptive to learning a new position or two while he works on the QB skills. Just seeing him physically and how well he catches the ball (he had better hands than almost every WR in Mobile) and sees running lanes, I would strongly encourage Tebow to learn at least some sets at FB or H-Back. He can do that and fill the #3 QB role and that saves a roster spot--even better if he plays special teams, which I think he will. I believe him when he says he's all about winning and doing whatever it takes, and doing that might be what it takes for him to ultimately (if ever) play QB in the NFL.

There was an old NFL coach in Mobile who was telling anyone who would listen that he remembered when Steve Young got to Tampa and couldn't come close to beating out Steve DeBerg for the starting job. Young worked his butt off, but he apparently also learned the playbook as a running back and was prepared to make the change as long as the Bucs coaches allowed him to still get reps at QB and get a fair shot to win the QB gig the next season. They wound up never making him do that, but he obviously progressed a great deal pretty quickly. I would not bet against Tebow being able to do that either. He's a special athlete and a rare winner in the Derek Jeter mode. Jeter isn't even one of the tpo 10 SS's of all time but he's easily the greatest winner to ever play it, and Tebow has got all that in him too. I doubt we see it before about 2013, but I don't see any QB-needy team right now taking him with any intent of having him start this year or next. That's why I think New England is perfect.

Oh yeah, that's right, i forgot to post this, your mock draft selection for the pats made the radio buzz up here in Boston man. I don't know if you knew that. Tebow was the subject on Dale and Holley and started talking about if New England was a good fit, and more than one caller and e-mailer said that there was a mock out there with Tebow being selected by the pats in the first round. Dale and Holley went on a scavenger hunt looking for it, but couldn't find it. I would have sent in a link to your name and article page but I was on my way to class. I thought it was cool though.

Scott Wright has him going to NE too.

I honestly don't see it happening though to be honest. Doesn't seem like a BB thing to me, and no one can predict Pats draft day moves except FSN.

Thanks for the info. I've got him going to the Pats with their 2nd 2nd rounder now.

FWIW the only Patriot staffer I saw in Mobile was Floyd Reese. I thought I saw Pepper Johnson but it might not have been him. Floyd is a very nice guy, spent a couple minutes talking with him about a mutual friend.

Pats fans will want to pay attention to the Peppers negotiations, or lack thereof. If what he's allegedly asking for is legit, there's no way he's staying in Carolina.

Icness, you have any idea of teams that have shown interest in Peppers?

It's going to take ownership willing to fork out >$50M for a guy that shows up about 50% of the time. Think Washington, Dallas, New England, maybe Seattle and Baltimore or Philly. I do think Peppers is convinced he is better served by playing OLB in a 3-4, but he'll take the $$$.

Finally got a great analogy for what Tebow was like in Mobile: Hannah Montana on a mall tour. It's not his fault, it just is what it is.

As for the peppers,

Pepper Johnson: Yes (to D-coordinator role)
Julius Peppers: No thanks. I'd rather give the money to wilfork.

I thought teams in the top 8 couldn't touch a guy like Peppers? So Dallas and Baltimore wouldn't have a chance. Or am I missing something?
