Re: Combine thread
Mays ran a 4.43 official.
Also, NFLN did a simulcast of his run and Ford's before the official, and he was clearly behind him.
I think Haden drops into teens with this run.

Re: Combine thread
I dont know if you addressed this earlier in the thread or in your combine articles (which are great by the way, they have been the most informative and interesting around the net ive seen about the combine, man.... It's good to see someone write about the combine without some sort of agenda) but ive read on other sites that there was talk during the combine about Greg Olsen being available? The Pats are linked because they have 3 2nd round picks and a need for a TE.

I posted on the Bears board as soon as Martz got hired that Olsen was on the way out. I would be VERY surprised if he's a Bear by the end of Draft Friday. I think the 3rd 2nd rounder from NE would get the deal done. He's their most realistically marketable asset and they desperately need picks, and in that offense he won't catch but 15 balls. His YAC is atrocious for someone of his speed and he's among the worst blockers in the league, which makes him completely worthless to Mike Martz. But dude is money in the red zone.
BTW thanks for the kind words, they are appreciated

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Yea Berry absolutely killed it. Measured in at 6', 211, which is 10+ pounds more than we thought he weighed. Ran a good 40 (4.47 is solid for him) jumped out of the building with his 43" vert and 10'10 broad and benched well. I also see he has long arms and his hand size is 9 1/2", which seems pretty ridiculous because i just measured mine and from base of hand to end of middle finger is 8" and a bit, and im 6' also haha not that it really matters. I think hes a top 5 pick it just depends on the teams needs.

To put it into perspective, he's 1 pound lighter than LaRon Landry now!

Re: Combine thread
Hey Jeff,
Thanks for all the updates, I enjoyed reading them, especially the "Ten Gleanings To Close The Combine" Its cool to hear insider stuff like that and the "draft chatter" from Monday's notes instead of the same stuff that's aired on TV and the big networks.

Re: Combine thread
I was surprised by that, since he has been working since Cotton Bowl with Michael Johnson here in Dallas Area. I watched him closely at Cotton Bowl, and despite his size, he is a player and does not appear to take direct hits. Met him b4 CB, and he is small but solid. Would love him for Cowboys as returner/slot/very much change up RB. In my view he is game fast.Worm Guts wrote:I'm shocked Dexter McCluster was so slow. Re: Combine thread
it couldve been a bad run who knows but yea the kid definitely has some very very legit speed and i believe he will make an impact in the league
jeff, i havent really kept up w/the combine much, how'd perrish cox do? in your last piece you mentioned how dez shied away from the suspension, anyone question cox on being suspended for the cotton bowl? i think he's gonna be a difference maker and much better than jacob lacey who went undrafted last year (though played a lot for the colts, and was picked on in the superbowl)

THATS IT! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! THE NFL HAS IT IN FOR USC BALL PLAYERS.
they ran that same simulcast with trindon holiday vs. taylor mays, and mays had him by a YARD!
trindon ran 4.34

Re: Combine thread
Ic, I'm glad you're not a Taylor Mays fan. It's so obvious how bad Taylor Mays is anytime you watch a Trojans game. With all his physical tools, its almost hard to believe that he's so bad.
Emmanuel Sanders...I saw an SMU game on ESPN when Sanders was a sophomore and since then I've thought this kid was gonna be pretty good. I think he's gonna be a big time sleeper. Good speed and major talent, but stuck in a small conference.
McCluster's 40 times have to be a fluke. If he's outrunning almost everyone in the SEC, I really find it hard to believe that he's only barely got sub 4.6 speed.
Sucks to be Jonathan Dwyer. Never been a fan of the guy and he did always look a bit slow on film compared to Spiller, Best, McKnight. I've got a feeling that Ryan Matthews is gonna turn out to be the best RB in the class.
Even tho he didn't work out, I think Walter Thurmond from Oregon is gonna be a good player in the league. His co-pilot in the secondary was Jairus Byrd and in some areas, Thurmond is even better.
Is Bradford ever going to work out or his he gonna live off of the hype? Dude's screaming bust to me right now.

Re: Combine thread
4.55 isn't really slow, he's extremely quick andshifty and hits top speed quickly, but small guys with quick steps are never as fast as they look.

drop the HATERade bottle son, whats your definition of bad, 1st or 2nd round or 5th round. if you think he is a bad player, then his type of "bad" player aint droppin to the 5th round. bad compared to other ELITE, hes still not that bad. bad as in NOT being the first safety taken, then that is NOT a true definition of "bad," but only reveals your disdain for the player. its like sayin 2 of the 4 linebackers comin out of USC last year were "bad", because some didnt make the 1st round. CHILD PLEEEEZE. they are still very good players, quality contributions to their teams, and gettin paid, but NOT "BAD"
CAN YOU DIG IT!!

Re: Combine thread
Not sipping on haterade. Just a realist. Physically, the guy is a freak. But he's awful in the passing game. And I don't even want to try to count the number of missed tackles he had against Oregon and Oregon State. He's a projected first rounder, yes. But it's based on his physical tools and potential...not based on his current football related skills.
