Mariners @ Jays thread

Post#1 » by OldNo7 » Fri Aug 31, 2007 12:29 pm

Sadly, I want the Mariners to sweep us because I dont want the Yanks to win the wild card.

That said, I will be at Saturday's game, my first this season, clothed in my Reds Griffey jersey (the Seattle one, from grade 9, just does not fit anymore), prepared to take a lot of heckling :D

boooooo!! :x

:P

I think this series is gonna be a tough one to win. The mariners are one of those teams that the Jays never seem to do well against.

At the beginning of the year, if you told me that the Mariners would be ahead of the Jays by almost 10 games I would've asked for your drug dealer's number....but with the way the offence has been this year, it doesn't surprise me at all.

Mariners are my second favorite team actually, love Ichiro's game and of course my man JJ Putz at the end of the pen.

what a double play to end it though. Nice play by all the guys involved.

Good win in general and looks like the long ball is working again.

what a play by hill and mac
mac deserves to be starting next year
his bat doesn't need to be relied especially with the lineup we have
he should get a goldglove but who is he competing with in the AL?

I bet when the opposing team sees that, they just start drooling uncontrollably.

That exactly what happened, they batted out of order. Hill should have been hitting behind Glaus but Overbay did. When Hill got the double Mariners manager brought it up and Hill was out.

On another note...Accardo is being saved by some great double plays. His control has not been that good lately.

Why is it this team always looks either not into the game, or very lazy out there. The lineup card should've been a non issue if you coaches are awake, the alck of clutch hitting and creativity from the manager hurts.....and of course, when this team is in prime shape to put the killshot in a team, they fall asleep and totally screw the play up.

Hill misses the bunt and Adams falls asleep, I personally would've tried to get into a run down so Glaus could've advanced. Luckily, for the Jays, Lopez threw a bad ball to 1st and Hill was safe....but of course Lyle Ovarybay cluncks out in the clutch...I don't get this guy...he's a .300 hitter yet he just stinks this year.

I'll take the win, but yet again the anemic Jays bats are saved by masterful pitching from McGowan....this kid should be 12-5 at least.....if he got any run support.

we got the win but our offense still 2 runs?

i think the reason why are pitching is so good becuase
we are batting so bad, the other teams are playing to our level most of the time, thus our pitching looks good

anybody agree?

we could use that as a decoy or something to throw the team off, just run Josh out to warm up then don't send him in at all!

Brilliant!!!

Great game to be at yesterday even though there was no offence to watch. Dusty looked absolutely great and outpitched Batista IMO - it really showed in the number of pitches thrown as Dusty had about 20 less come the 7th inning.

The funny thing about Zaun's HR was that in the inning before, when Overbay was up with 2 on 2 out, I said to my buddy: "If Overbay gets on to load the bases, Gibby better freakin put in Stairs to pinch hit, I dont want to see Zaun up there." What happens? Overbay grounds out to end the inning, and Zaun starts the next one with a HR.

Anyone who was at the game might have seen a glimpse of me on the jumbotron in between the first and 2nd inning when the in-house prize people were speaking from section 128. I was behind them and you could see the side of my head and shoulder on TV, so I casually turned my back into the camera to show my Griffey jersey clearly on the jumbotron; everyone in my section thought it was hilarious :D
