I can't see Locker falling that far and behind all those guys. I think one team will like his upside too much.

According to Risdon, the Bears are desperately hoping that Liuget falls to them. Based on that, Cliff Levingston thinks they go with him over the OT here.

Looks like a good mock by Cammo, but I think Cameron Jordan and Nate Solder are you're biggest reaches in the first round. I don't see a team using that high of a pick on a guy like Jordan when there's a guy like Quinn available. Stay away from the DE's then if you can't pick Quinn over Jordan. Quinn is HIGHLY touted by scouts, and he had a whopping 6 FFs in addition to his good TFL/Sack stats of 2009. Also I don't think Dareus has a shot at #1 that I have been seeing people suggest, he's never created a fumble in his career and I don't see how you can take a guy number 1 who hasn't even done that once, no flippin' way.

^^^ I agree. I really like Cameron Jordan but not at 7. Quinn could transition to a nice pass rushing outside linebacker. I think he is a better prospect. If they want Jordan then they should trade down for him.

Also, unless I'm just missing it I don't see Andy Dalton on here. I like him a lot more than Devlin.

Dalton seems so hit or miss right now. Some love him, others hate him. I think he may go in the 3rd round, but he may also go in the 4th or 5th.

For QBs in that range I think Colin Kaepernick is a good choice, he has a pretty decent completion percentage like Dalton, but he also adds a very aggressive ground attack. He might be a good QB to pick as a backup to Newton that way you have 2 guys with aggressive rushing games to try and take a little heat off Newton by rotating him during less important times and minimizing some wear and tear to QB1. The only QBs to rush for more yards than him were Cam and Denard, and Colin had the highest average rush of any QB if you don't count Andrew Luck who only had about 50 carries on the season, plus he's 6-6, possibly the tallest and fastest QB in the draft. He's on my hotlist for the Lions to draft him as the heir apparent to Drew Stanton to be the guy who wastes his talent and athleticism on the bench for us.

Dang, just saw this mock with Colin going to the Vikes at pick 12 and the first QB off the board, it's probably wishful thinking that he would stay under the radar for the Lions to pick him up cheaply. I'd like to see any team draft him other than the Vikes, arrggh! Although this guy has a lot of reaches, like Ayers going 8 and Solder going 13, and Newton going at 15, and Gabbert at 25! What a crazy mock, these guys are obviously from the future or an insane asylum!...

I would pretty much ignore that mock. There's no way Colin Kaepernick is going in the first round, never mind in the top 12.

Well I think it's much more likely for him to go in the first round than it is for him to be selected ahead of both Newton and Gabbert, that's more shocking to me. And I'm not sure what you mean by "ignoring" a mock. Just because one or a few guys don't fit for you doesn't mean the rest of the mock can't be accurate. And nobody in the world is going to have a mock that will agree with you more than your own picks, so what do you look to get out of other people's mocks? And are you trying to say you have never witnessed an NFL draft where there wasn't at least one time that you were shocked about a guy going high in the first round? What would you have said to the guy who made a mock that picked that shocking pick exactly? You would have said we should ignore that mock when in fact that guy would have nailed that pick perfectly in accordance with what would happen considering it did happen you know?

I don't look at mocks trying to find one that is the truth or a precise accounting of how everything will go down, I just look for obtaining as many opinions as I can to get ideas for how the market sees various players, and having more information is both useful and interesting and it's up to each individual to figure out what that mock means to them. Besides, that mock was made by a professional NFL scout, and I like reading those opinions especially when they differ from my own. I've got no chance in learning anything new by reading the opinion of somebody who thinks exactly like me. That's no fun!

Re: Cammo's 2011 NFL Mock Draft

Post#73 » by TSE » Wed Mar 9, 2011 1:49 am

That looks like a pretty well thought out mock. A couple things to comment on. One, I just got home and don't know much about how Cam's workout went, but all I saw so far was the highlight of him way overthrowing that sideline pattern to the right 2 times in a row, that was pretty embarrassing, and I heard about 50-60 for his completion percentage, so not sure how I feel about that without knowing a lot more about Cam, but that's something to think about. But for now I can still accept Cam as a possible #1.

The real gripes now...Jordan before Quinn is a little curious but not going to make a big deal about it. Ayers going right before Kerrigan is a tough pill to swallow, just cause Kerrigan has done so much to look good and put up good numbers, and Ayers has neither of those, just potential and projections, so it kind of irks my football sense even though maybe position-wise it might make sense for those teams. Solder going before Castonzo is awkward too, just can't stand those 21 reps for a Tackle, that's the kind of thing that can get you tossed off my board. But well I guess in 2 years he could end up being stronger than Castonzo for all I know, I just don't like investing such a high pick on him though. Can he play TE for the first year or something lol? And Mike Pouncey seems curiously low, but ok. Gee Denver gets some nice deals in Rd 2 with Pouncey and Rahim Moore. Not bad though, good mock overall!

This mock actually went up before Newton's workout. Which was pretty average. At this point I have no freaking clue who will go #1 in this draft.

I enjoy the mocks. As a Bears fan, they won't take 3 d-linemen with their first 3 picks.

I'd recommend Nick Fairley or sticking with Newton.

CAR is going to take the best Auburn player, because that gives them the biggest potential star on offense or defense, and that's what they need with this pick, a home run. I don't see any DL player that gives me any semblance of comfort to gamble on for the top overall pick except for the guy that clearly was the most dominant defensive player in college football last year. If they can't grow a pair and take an Auburn player, then they can be "safe" and take Patrick Peterson, but they could easily trade down and expect to get him lower or a comparable other option, as can be said for all of those other guys. So if they are sticking at 1, they have to act like it and take somebody that can justify that pick, and I only see Newton and Fairley as possibles for #1, maybe I'll disqualify one of those 2 guys or both later on as well but for now I haven't, all I know is EVERY single other player on the board is a huge joke and reach at #1 imho.

Also, I find it hilarious that Justin Tuck feels the need to weigh in and give his opinion, why is he itching to get involved? I think he just wants to try and discredit him so CAR passes and one of the next 3 teams which conveniently are AFC teams will pick him. He doesn't want some new flashy dynamic star to get anywhere close to him, because he's scared. No other QB has the same opportunity to embarrass Tuck later on since the other top QBs are passers and he either gets to them and makes mince meat out of them, or he faces Newton and possibly loses face.
