I really like checking out your mocks and think you have been doing a really good job so far. I respect your consistency with sticking with Cam Newton for quite some time and I think you are evolving to better and better mocks each time. Although I hate seeing MIN get Mallet in Round 2. Pretty much there are only 2 things I'm personally hoping for, first I don't want the Lions to have an epic screwup, and second I don't want MIN to find a QB in the first 2 rounds. My dream draft is for there to be 3-4 QBs selected in the first 11 picks, and 5-6 QBs selected before their 2nd round pick comes up LOL. MIN is the team I currently hate the most, because they are in our division and Adrian Peterson being on that team doesn't do much for their likability after his "slavery" comments, and I can respect the Bears and the Packers. The Packers impress me for a job well done despite lots of injuries, they had great chemistry and drive and the coach did a good job of keeping them rolling for success, and the Bears just have like an army of ex-head coaches from rival teams and I think that's a pretty interesting niche they are carving out for their team. Just not much to like about the Vikings; yucky!

After the pro days, it looks like Gabbert has a solid hold on the #1 spot. He looked very good.

Ooh, that sounds like an exciting mock shakeup then, when do we get the new version? :)

Although just to warn you, if you put Gabbert at #1, while your mock will make a lot of sense and look good, it's going to turn out wrong. hehe

I think the Niners will trade up to the late 1st/early 2nd to get Colin Kaepernick.

People are talking about Gabbert like he is a lock at #1 now. We shall see. Truthfully, I still like Clausen and if I were Carolina I would look defense with the pick.

This is very possible, as Kaepernick is a name that keeps coming up linked to SF. But, so does Dalton and he seems to fit what Harbaugh likes to do more. Harbaugh was said to be watching intently when Dalton did his pro day.

Kaepernick just did a private workout for the Niners and I haven't heard of anything with Dalton, yet.

If I were Carolina there is no way I wouldn't find a trading partner. I promise you 100% I would find a deal. But I can't see them taking Gabbert. He just didn't have the stats or domination in college to warrant taking a #1 pick when they don't know for sure if they already have a cheap solution with Clausen, or possibly one of the many other eligible QBs that other teams are going to scrap like garbage. Only Fairley and Newton qualify on that one element in itself. MAYBE they don't qualify for other reasons, but if you are picking at #1 you have no business taking anybody else in this draft, because they are all obvious reaches. Even Dareus, look at how many people have him going as the consensus 2 pick to Denver. Yikes! The Lions got Calvin Johnson with a 2 pick, the best WR prospect in the history of football. Dareus isn't that or close to that. Didn't he have 0 FFs in his career? WTF? FF's are the most valuable single play a DL player can even do, since INTs are that much more rare, and he didn't come up with any of those in 33 games!!! That doesn't mean he can't cause them at the next level, but I wouldn't be risking a 2 pick on a guy that can't even get good enough numbers to qualify on the basic elements of statistical logic that are required to justify a mammoth 1 or 2 pick. And 1 sack every 3 games? Big whoop. Find a real deserving baller or don't make the freaking pick! Newton and Fairley were ballers though, they killed it last year with dominating performances, and they clearly have mammoth upside if they can adapt that domination to the next level, but everybody else in the draft has a smaller springboard to capitalize off, nobody else has a glint of a chance of being justifiable for the top pick.

I hate all of those picks for the Packers. You should never take a RB in the first 5 rounds.

I would take:
Taylor
Nevis
Wilson
Young
Baldwin
Watkins

before Reed.

Remove the TEs, Safety's and RBs and I would take everybody in the 3rd round before I took Murray.

I would be shocked and irate if we took Reid in the 3rd.

First 3 rounds, sure. But 5 rounds?? That's just a stupid philosophy, in my opinion.

Maybe you make it 4 rounds but there are a bunch of players that will be around in the 4th that will be more valuable than any running back, other than maybe Inghram.

Goint off of Walt's mock I'd take

Moffit
Kirkpatrick
Matthews (and you know how much I dislike Matthews)
Little
Van Dyke
Sheppard
Irving
Tolliver
Gates
Jalil Brown
Kendricks
Pettis
Love
Dwayne Harris
Gilbert
Miller

Knowshon Moreno
Donald Brown
Beanie Wells
CJ Spiller
Ryan Matthews
Jahvid Best
Darren McFadden
Jonathon Stewart
Felix Jones
Rashard Mendenhall
Adrian Peterson
Marshawn Lynch

There are some decent players on that list but in the first round you want a franchise guy. Though there are a couple of franchise RBs, Peterson is the only guy that would be a franchise player.

I definitely see your point, but I just think putting specific round limitations on players, regardless of position, is sort of ignorant. But then again, I am a firm believer in drafting BPA. It would take a real stud running back for me to draft him in the top 2 rounds, but if I see a good value guy available in the third round I would have no problem taking that player. Guys like Kendall Hunter, DeMarco Murray, Taiwan Jones, Derrick Locke, Daniel Thomas, etc. I would be fine with in the 3rd/4th.

For the Pack, Burney and Nevis should switch.

I can't argue at all with the Colts selections, although I prefer the previous mock where you had the Colts taking Hudson, to eventually replace the aging Saturday, good call..

I'd also take a look at Cannon or Franklin in the second because either of them, combined with Sherrod, would supply the Colts with bookends for the remainder of Peyton's career.

Sash is a given with the departure of Bob.

To finish the Colts draft I'd go with:

4th- CB- Carmichael/VanDyke/Skrine
5th- SS- Searcy/JJohnson/Legfed ( Two safeties will be required if Bullit signs elsewhere)
6th- DT- Ian Williams/CThorton

Hey what's with going back to Cam Newton, I thought you switched your mind, what was the point of putting Gabbert out there if you weren't willing to stand by that pick? Grrrr

Oh well, it's your mocking reputation at stake, I'm switching to Icness now as the better mocker of the two after the last round. ;)

I'm mocking what I think will happen, not what I think should. Gabbert moved ahead for a bit, but it looks like Newton is the guy going #1 as it stands.
