Now that he has been acquitted, I am curious as to how much of an impact he'll make next year. I am very concerned the Antoine Winfield is done and won't be able to continue fighting off his age. My ideal situation is putting Winfield as a nickle back so as to keep him healthy all year. If Chris Cook is no good then, vikings are gonna be awful on defense yet again. Can anyone give me hope for the vikes secondary w this kid?

He was a bit of a reach at #35 but he does have some ability. Cook played well the last couple games of his rookie campaign but he has real trouble turning and running. 12 games in 2 seasons hasn't exactly helpd his progress. He does have two things that you can't teach--length and no short-term memory on the field. That's a good thing for a corner.

does cook being available have any impact on whether the vikings go claiborne at #3?

Figure you need 3 good CBs in the NFCN. Cook's 1, gonna need the other two.

Yep, Antoine Winfield can't play forever and Asher Allen just hasn't worked out as anticipated. Allen is one of my more disappointing players of the last couple of drafts; I thought he was a steal in the 3rd round. He went #86 overall and I had him #52 overall in my rankings. Between Larry English and Brandon Tate. What a crappy draft.
FWIW I had Cook #41 overall and I raised him up quite a bit after talking to a Vikings scout
