How bout a good ole fashion mock to get this board bumpin

1. Raiders- QB Jamarcus Russell LSU

For obvious reasons this team needs a QB.

2. Arizona Cardinals(trade with Lions)- OT Joe Thomas Wisconsin

Cards trade up for there franchise Left Tackle. Millen threatens to take him at two but allows the Cards to negotiate for him. Millen has glaring holes on his defense so with the addition of Foster and Mulitalo to the line this trade makes sense for them. Cards trade a 2nd and 5th.

3. Cleveland Browns- QB Brady Quinn Notre Dame

QB of the future will compete with Frye for the job.

4. Tampa Bay Bucs- WR Calvin Johnson Georgia Tech

Steal of the draft.

5. Detroit Lions(trade with Cards)- DE Gaines Adams Clemson

Millen holds the Cards Ransom and gets some picks to fill some much needed holes. Adams is a sure fire starter from day one and now with and extra second he can grab a QB and a replacement for Dre Bly.

6. Washington Redskins- DT Amobi Okoye Louisville

This pick is either going to be the Bears or there's but either way I see Okoye as a need for both teams. The Skins lack a quick bursting tackle and Okoye fits that need.

7. Minnesota Vikings- QB Adrian Peterson Oklahoma

Vikes will have no QB but they will have a tremendous 1-2 punch with Peterson and Taylor.

8. Atlanta Falcons- S Laron Landry LSU

Team in desperate need of a safety gets there man here.

9. Miami Dolphins- OT Levi Brown Penn State

No doubt about it this team needs some lineman on offense.

10. Houston Texans- DT Alan Branch Michigan

They could have a dominate defensive line with Branch,Johnson, and Williams.

11. San Francisco 49ers- DE Jammal Anderson Arkansas

Niners have there pick of the litter with all these great defensive players on the board. This pick will either be Willis or Anderson. I think Anderson wins out because the team can make due with with there linebacking core but they need to replace the ever aging Bryant Young at end.

12. Buffalo Bills- MLB Patrick Willis Ole Miss.

They need a back but could wait till later. With the linebacking core in flux with a defensive coach he will be salivating at the prospect of Willis leading the middle of there defense.

13. St. Louis Rams- CB Leon Hall Michigan

They got Tye Hill but Butler and Brown on the other side just dont cut it. They signed Hall for defensive end help so it isnt as much of a need.

14. Carolina Panthers- TE Greg Olsen Miami

In this tight end weak draft if would be wise for the Panthers to jump on Olsen here.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers- DE Jarvis Moss Florida

Could be an end in the Tampa 2 or an OLB in the 3-4 nice pick here.

16. Green Bay Packers- RB Marshawn Lynch Cal

Pick is real easy here. They have no game breaking backs and now they do.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars- FS Reggie Nelson Florida

The obvious need is to replace the loss of Grant.

18. Cincy Bengals- CB Darrelle Revis Pitt.

There cornerback situation is in real flux so a big coner like Revis would be a nice pick here.

19. Tennessee Titans- WR Dwayne Jarrett USC

Young needs a big redzone target. Team already has speedsters in Roby and Jones. Norm Chow will know how to use this guy and already has proven that.

20. New York Giants- OT Joe Staley Central Michigan

Diehl is not a tackle but one of the best guards in the league. If they want to improve there line ten folds they move him back to guard and have Staley as there new Left Tackle.

21. Denver Broncos- DE Adam Carriker Nebraska

Team has to be very pleased to see Carriker fall to them here.

22. Dallas Cowboys- WR Ted Ginn Jr. Ohio State

Owens could be gone soone and Glenn is nearing retirement so why not invest in his replacement and in the mean time have a dynamic kick and punt returner.

23. Kansas City Cheifs- WR Dwayne Bowe LSU

They need receiver help bad and cant not pass on one of the best in this draft.

24. New England Patriots- OLB Paul Posluzny Penn State

Pats type of player and fills a major need.

25. New York Jets- CB Aaron Ross Texas

Big physical corner the team is lacking.

26. Philadelphina Eagles- WR Robert Meacham Tennessee

They have Brown and Curtis but other than that Lewis? Avant? and Baskett? Give me a break. If Meacham is on the board they have to get him here.

27. New Orleans Saints- CB Chris Houstin Arkanas.

A Corner like Houston would be to hard to pass up here.

28. New England Patriots- CB/S Brandon Meriweather Miami

Can play safety or corner which are both needs areas for the Pats.

29. Baltimore Ravens- OLB Anthony Spencer Purdue

This team prides itself on defense and getting Spencer this late to fill the loss of Thomas is an absolute steal.

30. San Diego Chargers- S Michael Griffin Texas

With the loss of Kiel. Griffin will fill right in.

31. Chicago Bears- OLB Jon Beason Miami

If the Bears dont get Mcintosh from the Skins then Beason is the next likely replacement for Briggs.

32. Indianapolis Colts- OLB Lawrence Timmons FSU

There most glaring on obvious need is there core of linebackers.

2nd round

33. Oakland Raiders- OG Justin Blaylock Texas

Massive lineman should help with protecting there new investment.

34. Detroit Lions- QB Drew Stanton Michigan State

Becomes there QB to be groomed by Kitna. Hometown product makes a nice fit here.

35. Tampa Bay Bucs- DE Charles Johnson Georgia

With the loss of White and the aging ends they have his time to start adding some depth.

36. Cleveland Browns- DT Demarcus "Tank" Tyler NC State

They need a force in the middle of there defense to allow the 3-4 to work.

37. Chicago Bears- OT Tony Ugoh Arkansas

Need to find someone to groom behind Miller and Tait.

38. Detroit Lions(trade with Cards)- CB Marcus McCauley Fresno State

Millen having a solid drafting drafting solid defensive players for coach Marinelli and also picking up his QB of the future in Stanton.

39. Atlanta Falcons- OG Ben Grubbs Auburn

Coach Petrino wants to get big and nasty up the middle so you have to like this pick.

40. Miami Dolphins- C Ryan Kalil USC

Best Center in the draft and will allow them to move Hadnot to his more natural position of Guard. Phins now have a real offensive line with the additions of Kalil and Brown.

41. Minnesota Vikings- WR Anthony Gonzalez Ohio State

Nabbing the sure handed Gonzalez is a must for this Vikings team.

42. San Francisco 49ers- WR Sidney Rice South Carolina

Nice player to develop here.

43. Buffalo Bills- RB Antonio Pittman Ohio State

Grab there future at running back.

44. Atlanta Falcons- DE Victor Abiamiri Notre Dame

Tough defensive end to help fill the void left by Kerney.

45. Carolina Panthers- OT/OG Arron Sears Tennessee

There line is always in flux so adding Sears here would be smart.

46. Pittsburgh Steelers- CB Eric Wright UNLV

Seems to be a perfect cover 2 corner for coach Tomlin.

47. Green Bay Packers- S Eric Weddle Utah

There safeties are horrendous so Weddle will start day one and be the gamer they need.

48. Jacksonville Jaguars- DE Quentin Moses Georgia

They add some much needed depth to there line.

49. Cincy Bengals- TE Zach Miller Arizona State

Palmer finally gets a real tight end to throw too.

50. Tennessee Titans- DT Justin Harrell Tennesse

Titans looking to form the Ol' Rocky top line with Mahelona and Harrell.

51. New York Giants- CB Tanard Jackson Syracuse

Have to be very pleased to see Jackson here.

52. St. Louis Rams- OLB Rufus Alexander Oklahoma

They team is hurting for linebackers.

53. Dallas Cowboys- QB Kevin Kolb Houston

Someone they can groom just in case Romo is a bust.

54. Kanas City Chiefs- MLB David Harris Michigan

Great pickup for the Cheifs and huge need pick.

55. Seattle Seahawks- TE Ben Patrick Deleware

Small school TE but he could be a sleeper.

56. Denver Broncos- MLB Buster Davis FSU

Well if Al Wilson goes they need someone to replace him.

57. Philadelphia Eagles- RB/FB Brian Leonard Rutgers

Could be the perfect compliment to Westbrook.

58. New Orleans Saints- SS Aaron Rouse Virginia Tech

Add some safety depth.

59. New York Jets- DE Ikaika-Alama Francis Hawaii

Someone to groom to play end in there 3-4.

60. Miami Dolphins- WR Jason Hill Washington State

Absolute burner with legit 4.3 speed.

61. Baltimore Ravens- OG Josh Beekman Boston College

Add some depth to there depleted line.

62. San Diego Chargers- WR Aundrae Allison East Carolina

Nice wideout pickup this late in the draft.

63. New York Jets- OLB Lamar Woodley Michigan

Another nice piece to there 4-3.

64. Tampa Bay Bucs- CB Dameiyon Hughes Cal

Really nice late round Barber insurance.

Titans will not pick up an RB in the first day.

Not only do we have LenDale, and are probably bringing in one of Corey Dillon or Michael Turner, we have far more pressing needs than to pick up an RB in the first day.

Millen wants to form a dominate line to protect Kitna.

Really quite funny i thought. Its the truth, but thinking of Millen telling Kitna hes the man and we're going to really protect him this year is just humorous.

5. Arizona Cardinals- DE Gaines Adams Clemson

Whisenhunt wants to bring the 3-4 to the Cards so Adams will be a nice piece in this spot.

2nd round

38. Arizona Cardinals- OG Ben Grubbs Auburn

They signed Gandy to play Left Tackle so finding a guard to replace him like Grubbs is the next step.

Pretty bad Cards explanations, dude...

Whisenhunt would not have kept Defensive Coordinator, Clancy Pendergast if he wanted to switch to a 3-4 D. We've experimented with it, but it's not going to be in effect until we get the adequate personell.

As far as Grubbs goes, we signed Gandy to play LG, not LT. If for whatever reason Joe Thomas doesn't fall to the Cards, (which won't happen anyway) Victor Abiamiri will probably be our pick.

Here's why Thomas will fall to Arizona.

1.Oak - They're going to go QB or WR. I have them taking Russell in my mock. They won't choose Joe Thomas.

2.Det - They have a solid LT in Backus, they brought George Foster from Denver and signed Edwin Mutilato from the Ravens. They won't go OT in the first. Every offensive position has been addressed except QB, they will pick Brady Quinn if they can't trade down.

3.Cle - Cleveland also has a decent LT in Kevin Shaffer. They brought in Steinbach and LeCharles Bentley will be returning to their line. Jamaal Lewis is not a long term answer for their RB, so they will pick Adrian Peterson.

4.Tam - Tampa has a hole in their dline, but Gruden has already expressed that he'd be thrilled if Calvin Johnson fell to them. They already addressed LT in free agency by bringing in Luke Petigout, they will not pick Joe Thomas.

5.Ari - This leaves the Cards with a no brainer pick, Joe Thomas is their guy.

Shzm I dont think my explanations are way off because if Thomas doesnt fall to the Cards then they will be picking the best defensive player on the board. Whisenhunt currently doesnt have anyone to teach the 3-4 and that is why he has kept the current DC. But he will want to switch to the 3-4 eventually so isnt the draft a good place to start getting that personel??
Gaines would fill a huge need for the Cards wether he is standing up in the 3-4 or with his hands down in the 4-3. Gandy was signed to play LG or LT pending the addition of Thomas or not. No Thomas LT Yes Thomas then LG. Please instead of insulting my intelligence saying my explanations are pretty bad DUDE. Next time just put up your mock and say why your picks make more sense. I do understand that Detroit has Backus,Mulitalo, and Foster but I also know that Millen has a man crush on Thomas. He could even move Backus to a guard spot for Thomas. What I think COULD happen is that Millen is trying to trade out and get more picks since he has glaring needs at Defensive End and Cornerback with the recent loss of Bly. I can see him holding a gun to the Cards head demanding there second round pick this year and a second next year in order for them to move up and grab Thomas. This move will them allow Detroit to grab Adams and then with two picks in the second they can grab there corner and Drew Stanton.

My apologies if I came off as insulting..I was simply stating you could've researched your Cards picks a wee bit better. No offense intended.

Clancy Pendergast is a clever defensive coordinator, he has messed around with working a 3-4 defense, but both he and Whisenhunt have said that they will not be bringing it to Arizona permanently. If you have any evidence that proves otherwise, I would love to see it.

As far as the Lions trading down, yeah it makes absolute PERFECT sense for the Lions..They trade down, and nab the DE they want at 5, while the Cardinals lose a couple picks...right?

Whisenhunt and GM, Rod Graves have both said that they have absolutely no interest in moving up in the draft because it would cost them picks. I don't know if you've noticed, but the Cardinals have no WOLB right now, with a 2nd or 3rd rounder, we could easilly grab Beason, Puz, Alexander, or Everett, should they fall that far. We've also got a pretty big need at TE, since Whisenhunt likes to have a big blocking TE in his run game. We drafted Leonard Pope last year, but he's more of a receiving TE. Once again, my apologies if I offended you. For your next mock, keep in mind that the Cardinals needs are LT, OLB, DE, TE, FS/CB (in that order.) LT is a good pick, but Whisenhunt has said (on Rome is Burning most recently) that we are at a comfortable position in which we have ZERO need/desire to be trading up.

Give Tennessee Robert Meacham or Carriker in round one instead of Jarrett.

I think I am going to lean towards Meacham. I will revise in my next mock, just thought with the USC ties and with the Titans needing a big redzone threat that Jarrett made more sense. Isnt Roby,Jones, and Williams the team burners already???? Just thought a big redzone target like Jarrett would be the way to go for you guys.

I thought this was interesting:

http://www.thehuddlereport.com/top100/index.shtml

This is something I've wanted to see for a long time -- someone who actually gauges the accuracy of all the mock drafts. I haven't delved into this thing completely, so I don't know what kind of criteria they used. Ideally it would be flexible -- you get the most points if you get a pick exactly right, but you also get partial credit if you come close (say you peg a player at #45 and he goes #48; that's pretty good; for Day 2 players, just getting the round right should be worth something). You'd also get some credit if you get the position right (e.g. if last year you predicted the Titans would take Leinart). It looks to me like the website above has made a pretty good effort to do this kind of analysis.

I like those guys and I know several of them. They tend to overvalue the sleepers and less prominent guys, but they're almost never wrong on big-school guys who they don't like. I also like that their mock is a collaborative effort. The fact they openly ridicule the Sporting News makes me feel warm inside too.
