If in fact the widely accepted #1 Russell pick happens, how can Detroit not take Quinn? Many people have them taking Gaines Adams or Joe Thomas and I've also seen a few that have them taking Calvin Johnson. I know Quinn has a few question marks, but quarterback is so much more important than any other position. Kitna is surely a serviceable QB, but he's an older guy and they definetly shouldn't be banking on making the playoffs with him in the next few years. McCown is a good backup and nothing more. I also understand that the Lions offensive line is arguably the worst in the league. Still, Quinn like QB prospects don't come up very often. I feel like Quinn is suffering from the Matt Leinart syndrome: falling in the draft for no reason.

That's why Joey Harrington failed to work out, and why he's no longer on the team. And why Detroit is better off taking Thomas (even though Marinelli's a defensive guru and drools over Adams).

Marinelli doesn't like developing rookie QB's. That's why it seems likely they won't take Quinn.

We can blame Harrington and people like Carr all we want, but no QB can handle no protection.

Build a great O-line and results come, even if your QB is as bad as Rex Grossman.

PNF has it dead on. Our line is hysterically bad, hence no running/passing game. Build the line damnit!!!

They need a line to protect their QB before they get a QB. So Joe Thomas is the logical pick.

Which is why we wont be drafting him. He makes waaaay too much sense here.

Mel Kiper just tore Todd Mcshay a new one on a Brady Quinn discussion. Mcshay says Quinn should be a middle first rounder but then he as him slotted at 7, and Mel basically called him a hypocrite.

Tod Mcshay is the most gutless scout I ever saw, with his bold predictions like "Gaines Adams will be a surefire first round pick"

The Lions should take Brady Quinn or Calvin Johnson and send Calvin rights to whomever wants him at a fair price.

I just don't see the point in taking a Joe Thomas at 2 when you can probably move down to 4, get an extra pick or more and still take Thomas.

The only problem for Quinn, and any Lions QB, is they are sitting ducks until the team can make an effective offensive line.

they should take Thomas or trade down.....but unfortunatley the easiest and best solution, is not always the most obvious.....

People think the Lions have oline problems, and shouldn't take a QB, yet people think the Browns have no problems at all on the oline, and should take Quinn and let him get killed! What's up with that?

well isnt the mock draft supposed to be what he thinks the teams will do? or is it if he were in his shoes?

If I was detroit, I would make a deal happen with the falcons...Trade down, to 8 and collect there 2 second round picks, or maybe a 2 and a 4 or something. Stock up on draft picks.

That team has so many holes, noone that they can take at 2 is going to be a game changer for them. Trade down, you can still pick up a nice player at 8. That seems like the logical choice imo, for the Lions.
