Paul Oliver

Most of you have probably heard about Paul Oliver right now and what he did against Calvin Johnson earlier this season holding him to 2 catches for 13 yards. He also had 4 tackles, a forced fumble, 3 pass breakups and an interception in that game.
Well because of Oliver's bad grades he's entered into the NFL Supplemental Draft and whichever team picks him could be getting a steal.
Considered a future 1st round pick by most pundits Oliver could really garner a lot of interest in the upcoming weeks.
NFL Teams are already lining up tickets to Oliver's pro day and he should garner a 3rd or 4th round pick.
There were rumors that Jared Gaither would put his name into the ring also after speculation of being ineligible.

I was very happy when he decided to stay. He was supposed to be the leader of our defense, but of course he has to be an idiot. He's a player, no doubt.

I was at that GT/UGA game, crazy, we got wild. Reggie Ball probably had a little to do with it though, he played absolutely horrible. Not taking anything away from Oliver though, he's a player.

those are 2 steals for those teams and i wouldve gladly given a 3rd and 4th for either of them.

That's a huge steal considering most figured Oliver to be the #1 CB taken next year.

Two of the better drafting teams in the league.
A.J. Smith has been linked to Oliver the past couple of weeks and he selects the former Bulldog with a 4th rounder.
He was likely a 1st or 2nd rounder next year so this is a coup. With Florence coming off the books next year it gives Oliver a year to learn the playbook and then make his impact in 2008 with Jammer and Cromatire.
Ozzie Newsome was also linked to Jared Gaither for the past couple of weeks and he selected a future 1st rounder with a 5th round pick.
Jon Ogden is no spring chicken anymore and this could be his last year in the NFL. So the Ravens draft his replacement a year early.
Gaither physically is just as big as Ogden and not many people have been able to say that. He'll be tutored by one of the greats and he could beat out Adam Terry for that RT spot though that's unlikely.

Anyway, I wish the Saint's would just take a flier on one potential defensive playmaker one year.
I thought we should have tried for Ahmad Brooks last year, and now this.

He was certainly worth the risk where he was taken. But with almost every guy ever in the supplemental draft, there's a reason why he's there and it's not a positive. Guys in the sup draft usually get a real short leash and real small window of opportunity to impress.

I'm getting frustrated with the Giants. We passed on Brooks last year and now Gaither and Oliver this year. Very irritating.

i wouldnt be that frustrated not many teams ever take chances on supplementary players, its hard to ever know if your team offered though.
but normally these players are problems so you cant really blame these teams if they pass on these players even if you'd like your team to take a chance at them.
