QB big board
As of Sept. 21, and this is very fluid. By April it might look much different, esp. if Matt Ryan keeps playing so well and Brohm continues to not show any more improvement.
1. Brian Brohm, Louisville--ideal size and pedigree; showing the requisite arm strength and pocket awareness needed; throws a tight, accurate, catchable ball at all distances; moves thru his progressions quickly but often too satisfied to throw checkdown routes; will force balls to avoid sacks. Not very mobile and has a lengthy injury history which many will hold against him. NFL comparison: a young Drew Bledsoe, Carson Palmer. Top 5 overall potential but injuries and coming from a non pro-style offense could drop him.
2. Andre Woodson, Kentucky--has great size, good mobility and a plus arm; very accurate on short and intermediate routes; has good scrambling ability but doesn

See Reggie McNeal, who was a more accurate passer in a more pro-style offense at TAMU than White. He's not even on the scouting radar as a QB. He's got a shot as a Brad Smith-type utility RB/WR/KR/#3QB, though he's smaller.

Josh Johnson and Joe Flacco>Nick Hill
Sam Keller says hi.
I wonder how high Dennis Dixon can fly up boards if he keep up the great play.
And if we're including juniors, Nate Longshore, Hunter Cantwell, Chase Hobrook, Chase Daniel, Graham Harrell, Curtis Painter, and Ben Olsen all have a chance to go first day.

I don't think Dixon will ever play professional football. I think he'll carve out a living for himself in the Braves' minor-league system.
After reading that scouting report, Icness, I can't believe John David Ass is considered a first-day prospect at all. He's surrounded by all the talent in the world and everyone knows that you can put the most mediocre QB in college football in that slot and he'll put up comparable numbers. He doesn't separate himself in any way.

I somewhat agree, but if he keeps up what he's doing I think he'll go from undrafted to 4th rounder this year. I don't ever think he'll be a starter in the league, but I do think he could make a living off football.

I dont think you downgrade Booty because USC is a great team, on a sidenote the Trojan receivers arent all that great. Think anyone in Chicago wouldnt take Booty over Grossman?. Having said all that i think he's probably a second rounder but no doubt he can play in the league and probably start.

Flacco might be, but he's got a slow, funky release and tosses a lot of balls that should be INTed. He's one of those guys who will be made/broken in the postseason games/workouts. I've never seen Josh Johnson, and neither have about 90% of the people who are reporting on him.
Some poor team is going to draft Keller in the later (middle?) rounds based on what he can be, not what he has been. He's never shown the consistency, temperament, or work ethic to make it in the NFL. He's the same player now he was when he arrived at ASU and disappointed them. Having a very good arm and being good looking doesn't make an NFL QB. He is one of the most disappointing players in college football to me, because I do see the ability to a real good QB there.
I'm a big Chase Daniel guy--love his progress over the summer and how much more confident he is this year. If he keeps improving he could find the latter part of Day One, and that would be enough to make him come out.
Harrell and Holbrook both get docked big-time for their systems. Better QBs than those two have come from those systems and washed out quickly.
Some scouts like Longshore, but I'm not sold on him. IMO he would greatly benefit from another year, and most indications are that he will do that. Hard to tell him to go back if he keeps up his big season and they make a BCS Bowl. For some reason I'm just not real high on any Cal players, no real explanation. I'm sure I'll be wrong about one of them. I like Longshore's long-term potential better than Desean Jackson, which probably makes me an idiot in some circles.
Dixon=what PNF said. And this is the first year it looks like he's having fun playing football too, kinda sad that he'll scrap it for baseball.

I think you have Matt Ryan getting picked a bit later than he is expected, most draft people think he will be a definate top 15 pick and last week Mel Kiper said he thinks Ryan will be a top 10 pick and could move up into the top 5. I know Mel isnt always the most accurate but he does get a good idea of what scouts think of players. I personally think he will get picked somewhere between 6 and 12, but if he does have a great end of the year with as tough of a scheduele as they have i think he will be the 1st qb taken.

IDK about Booty yet. I like his arm and how he manages a huddle full of talent, an underappreciated skill that has doomed some other guys. He's got just enough of everything but mobility to merit a long look. I could see him hanging around 12 years as a seldom-used but trustworthy backup, a la Todd Collins or Huard. And not having to worry about your #2 QB for a decade can be a very favorable situation for a team, lets you focus your $$ and mid-round draft picks elsewhere. I'd like him a lot more if he threw a better 12-yard out or a tighter skinny post, but as he is now good safeties are going to eat him alive.

He is kind of hard to project because some people feel he could end up being the 1st qb taken and being a top 3 or 5 pick while some think he could fall to the end of the 1st. Mel Kiper is the best ever at what he does, if he likes the guy then there is a good reason. Still early on rankings for the April draft but you would have to think there are enough teams that need QBs that Brohm, Woodson and Ryan will all be gone fairly early.(meaning top 15).

Honestly, no, I don't think Bears fans would choose John David Ass over Grossman. I see these leadership skills but I think they're overrated, and Icness' position is a little more clear to me now.
I personally wouldn't touch him with a day-one pick.

Yea verily. I think almost the whole lot is overrated in some facet, and Longshore's probably the worst of the group.
re: Jackson, he projects almost perfectly as a poor mans Ted Ginn, which isn't exactly sterling.

well one of those was a 6th rounder and the other went undrafted so maybe he'll be a little better off. i dont really understand what you're trying to say though, he's never played a pro game how is he lumped in with those guys? especially hassebeck he's a borderline top 10 qb.
