Man that would suck, having Clady picked up one slot above us.

I love the Ellis pick for the Jets but I won't be surprised if they trade down.

I don't get why people think Ellis is a good fit for the Jets--he's ~25 pounds lighter and not nearly as physical as Robertson, who gets chided for not being an anchor. Ellis' game is predicated on quickness and lateral agility, not power. He is much better suited for an attacking 4-3 defense like the Giants or Rams (try to) run. The whole point of running a 3-4 is to have the 3 DL control the LOS and let the LBs make plays, and any pass rush they get up the gut is gravy. Look at the elite 3-4 NTs--Jamaal Williams, Casey Hampton, Vince Wilfork, Ted Washington back a few years. Sedrick Ellis is nothing like those guys.

The guy from the NFL network (forgot his name lol) already said that Ellis can be a 3-4NT in the NFL. He said that in college he rarely had single coverage and always had to take on 2 defenders. And Robertson is physical? LMAO, the guy is garbage and cannot fill a gap if his life depended on it.

If available and my top 2 were gone (long and long), I'd trade down, if not I'm taking Ellis.

I raised my eyebrows when reading this today.

This is Sportsline's mock draft, which means it's the NflDraftScout.com's mock draft:

1. Miami Dolphins - Sedrick Ellis, DT, Southern California: The most difficult component to find in building the 3-4 alignment isn't the flashy pass rushers, but the stout nose guard. Ellis is not only a perfect fit for Miami scheme-wise, in dominating at the Senior Bowl he showed the competitive fire and talent Bill Parcells and Co. will require from the top pick.

Hrm. So not only do they see him as a 3-4 type nosetackle, not only do they have him going ahead of Dorsey, but they have him going #1 overall.

I'm gonna have to say I doubt that one happens.

It wasn't their only odd choice in my opinion.

12. Denver Broncos - DeSean Jackson, WR, California: Brandon Marshall is an emerging star, but without a legitimate speed threat opposite him, opposing defenses will find ways to limit his effectiveness given an off-season to adjust. Jackson would keep defenses honest and, just as important, give the Broncos a dangerous return specialist.

15. Detroit Lions - Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona: The significant question with Cason is his 40-yard dash time. Otherwise, he is viewed as one of the safer, more consistent cornerbacks in the 2008 draft. In Rod Marinelli's system, Cason's lack of spectacular speed is protected, making him a perfect fit for a team needing more reliability in the defensive backfield.

17. Minnesoata Vikings - Chad Henne, QB, Michigan: Tarvaris Jackson has shown enough improvement in his two seasons to warrant further development, but this is largely a team built to win now. With Minnesota's dominance in running the ball offensively and stopping the run defensively, an accurate, intelligent quarterback could push this team into the playoffs immediately. Henne struggled with decision-making over his career, but when protected upfront he is as accurate as any quarterback in this draft.

Nothing really embarrassing about it. It's entirely possible that a team in the top 10-15 falls in love with one of those three and takes him.

Stranger things happen every year during the draft.

I'd certainly be surprised, but I give them credit for going out on a limb a bit.

conner in most mocks i've seen is not even in the first round and he's #11???? that's pretty bad.

jenkins makes some sense but i don't know about top 10..

I don't see how the Jets pass up Gholston over Ellis if that mock came true.

I know Ellis had a big Senior Bowl but Gholston fits what they want to do a lot better, even Harvey does as well. It also appears that NFLDC has Ellis listed as a DE in the 3-4. I don't think he fits that mold either. Ellis probably lasts until #9 in this mock. I don't think New England(trade down from #7 imo, maybe for a team in the teens that loves Ellis) and Baltimore need inside help.

That Henne pick to MIN isn't so crazy either. I know they really like him and they feel they can keep him protected, which is really the only issue he's got.

Mike Jenkins at #7 is a real reach, although if he runs a sub 4.4 (and he might) next week in Indy you never know. He's easily the best run-support CB in this class and he's got size and hands, which the Pats love...

LOL at Desean Jackson at #12. I'm not saying it's not likely, but whomever bites that bullet is in for a major disappointment. He's not 3/4 of the WR that Ted Ginn was, and he's smaller, shorter, and slower.
