I think it is a lock that Long, Jake not Chris, is going to be the first pick.

I just talked with a guy at Pro Football Weekly and he told me the same thing and to prepare the mock draft with Jake Long at #1.
This ought to make Jets fans extraordinarily happy--it means they are almost certain to get Vernon Gholston.
Quick mock update:
1. Jake Long
2. Chris Long--my Gholston hunch is unfounded
3. Glenn Dorsey--ditto my Ellis hunch here
4. Darren McFadden, still a lock according to everyone I talk to
5. Matt Ryan, and it probably won't be the Chiefs taking him
6. Vernon Gholston. But if Matt Ryan is on the board he is a Jet.
7. either Clady or Branden Albert, again probably not the Pats taking him
8. Sedrick Ellis unless the Ravens keep the pick, then it's McKelvin
9. Derrick Harvey or Sed Ellis
10. If the Saints keep it, Keith Rivers. If it's traded, anyone above not taken already. This is McFadden's floor if the Raiders unexpectedly pass on him.
I have Brohm and Henne both in the mid 20s as results of trades by PIT and SEA. PIT will trade out if no tackles are available and take Duane Brown later. TEN, JAX, and SD are all also candidates to move down.
Toughest picks right now are Chicago at #14 and Philly at #19.
Final mock will get posted Thursday sometime.

DrugBust wrote:How would a trade of Allen effect the #5 overall? It would seem to me that if Allen is good as gone that they would have to give serious consideration to Gholston, a guy who would rather play on the line anyway.
I'm taking it as if Allen is still a Chief until a deal actually happens. I think it probably will, but it might not be pre-draft. Allen's contract demands are going to make it real hard to work out an equitable deal quickly.
KC would almost certainly still want to move down anyways--the two guys they want (Clady and Albert) are both reaches at #5 and one (or both) will still be there as late as #14. Which has some significance...

So the Bears are talking about trading up to 5 for Matt Ryan?

It seems like every year the Pats and Jets target the same players, there is no way the Pats trade up if Gholston slides to five right? Also Ryan is ahead of Gholston on the Jets draft board, thats extremely interesting. Either way the Phins now have a solid offensive line that might actually make Beck look like a QB and give Brown help.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

I would vomit if the Jets take a QB...

Nooooooooooooo!! KC trades Allen which means they are in the hunt for a DE.. Hopefully they go the Matt Ryan route, though I doubt it.

Back to the Fins for a sec...
That pick at the top of Round 2 is real interesting now. I still believe they take Flacco if he's still there, but I've heard both Peter King and Vic Carucci mention how they might be more content waiting another round and taking JD Booty and address the defense here. Quentin Groves would be a perfect fit IMO at #32. Which would just absolutely CF my mock...
