Mock Drafts

Post#1 » by Munchlaxatives » Sat Dec 19, 2009 4:54 am

I got a couple beefs with it.

The Texans are not taking a WR high. Or at all. David Anderson is in line to replace Kevin Walter if he leaves, and the Texans really like Glenn Martinez, currently the 6th receiver on the team. It's safe to say WR and TE are settled on the Texans. DE, too.

You really think the Browns would pass on Rolando McClain?

Yeah, the pats are not gonna take another Safety. They have a stud in meriweather, sanders who they just re-signed, drafted chung last season, and their fa signing, McGowan, has emerged as a great playmaker.

Since I'm critiquing, it's only fair I post my own mock draft, albeit last year's. I maybe hit on 3 picks.

Detroit-Matt Stafford QB Georgia. Do I like the pick? No. I'm not sold on him, nor a QB for the Lions. Smith or Monroe would be the better football pick, but they need Stafford to sell season tickets.

St. Louis-Eugene Monroe LT Virginia: . They released Orlando Pace and while some think Smith is going to be better, Monroe has been shooting up draft boards and I can see why. They can't go wrong with either pick.

Kansas City-Jason Smith OT Baylor: Curry or Orakpo would also be good here, but Kansas City knows first hand a good O-line leads to a good team.

Seattle-Mark Sanchez QB USC: Matt Hasselbeck is one of my favorite quarterbacks, but he's getting up there in age. Sanchez best fits in a West Coast Offense, who better to mentor him than Hasselbeck? Sanchez will have the chance to sit for two or three years, which should be enough time to polish him into the next forgettable Pro Bowler in the mold of Hasselbeck.

Cleveland-Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest: The Browns failed to score a TD in the last few weeks of the season, but their defense was not much better. Curry is versatile, and while I think he'd be more successful in a 4-3, he should fit in a 3-4 well. The only concern is whether he'll be able to rush the passer, and personally, I don't think he's aggressive enough to be a stud LB.

Cincinatti-Brian Orakpo DE/LB Texas: Why? They can use a high character guy like Orakpo; he's a good guy with a great work ethic, and that will hopefully rub off on the underacheiving Bungles.

Oakland-Andre Smith OT Alabama: No Maclin? The Raiders certainly need a WR, but despite his woes, Andre Smith will be a good lineman. Historically, it's much easier to find elite linemen at the top of the draft than wide receivers.

Jacksonville-Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech: They have bigger needs, but Jacksonville has not historically drafted well and could certainly use a playmaker on offense. I'm not saying they're dumb for taking him, but they should trade down and try to stop the team from freefalling.

Green Bay-B.J. Raji DT Boston College: They cannot stop the run. They don't stand a chance in the NFC North without drafting a big guy like Raji. I like their linebacking corps and they can find a good pass rusher later in the draft.

San Francisco-Aaron Maybin LB/DE: I think the Niners have a general lack of talent, but I think they'll focus on getting playmakers. I don't feel Maybin will be a star in the league, but he could be a good player under Mike Singletary. Cannot play with them. Cannot coach with them. Cannot win with them. Can't do it.

Buffalo-Everette Brown DE Florida: I'm leaning towards one of the linebackers from USC, but they don't have much at DE and with two good DT's, a pass rusher to pair with Schobel would improve the linebackers and the secondary.

Denver-Brian Cushing LB USC: Larry English would be a good pick, but they go for the more versatile Cushing who should improve their lackluster pass rush.

Washington-Robert Ayers DE Tennessee: They started Jason Taylor, this should be an easy pick for them.

New Orleans-*Trade* New York Giants- Jeremy Maclin WR Mizzou: The Giants have been shutting down rumors about trading for Boldin or Braylon Edwards. In the end, I think they find it in their best interest to trade up for Maclin instead. They prefer to develop talent, but they've taken note that deep threats like Plaxico Burress aren't easy to develop.

Houston-Clay Matthews III LB USC: This is going to be wrong. The Texans' first round picks are never guessed right, but with Bruce Matthews in Houston, it's a possibility. The GM mentioned he liked this year's linebackers at the top of the draft.

San Diego-Tyson Jackson DE LSU: I could easily go with Knowshown Moreno here, but they're good at finding backs late in the draft.

New York Jets-Josh Freeman QB Kansas State: I could see them going defense here, but in this position, I don't know who they could take that could be a better value than Freeman. He's raw and shouldn't play his first year, leaving Kellen Clemens to show why he was a top QB his senior year in college until he was hurt.

Denver-Rey Maualuga LB USC: The best defensive prospect on the board.

Tampa Bay-Malcolm Jenkins DB Ohio State: Linebacker seems to be a bigger need, but Ronde Barber has lost a step. Jenkins is a good player, his measurables will prove to be irrelevant.

Detroit-Michael Oher OT Ole Miss: Godser Cherilus was a good pick, but that line still needs to be reinforced. Jeff Backus is servicable enough to not force Oher to start right away.

Philadelphia-Kenny Britt WR Rutgers. I want to say Knowshown Moreno, but he's going to keep dropping. Britt could finally be the #1 receiver Donovan McNabb has always lacked. He seems to lack the ego the available WRs seem to have.

Minnesota-Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina: CAD #5. Troy Williamson was a bust and I don't think Berrian is better than a #2 receiver.

New England-Knowshown Moreno RB Georgia: The Patriots will go back to the top of the AFC East by drafting the leading rookie rusher of 2009.

Atlanta-Vontae Davis DB Illinois: I think the best corners in the draft will be found in rounds 3-5. The Falcons will hope Davis will turn out better than his brother.

Miami-Darius Heyward-Bey: I had the pleasure of being at the Texans-Dolphins game that went down to the final seconds. Just thought I'd rub that in. The Phins looked like a team in need of two things: a legit WR and a DB. As I said before, the best DBs are going to be found in the second day.

Baltimore-Percy Harvin WR Florida: Finally a playmaker on offense. Character issues should be resolved by facing a hard hitting defense every day at practice.

Indianapolis-Peria Jerry DT Ole Miss: The Colts thank the heavens Jerry fell this far.

Buffalo-Eben Britton LT Arizona: They fooled the Eagles into taking Jason Peters, they'll need a LT.

New Orleans Chris Wells RB Ohio State: Pierre Thomas isn't meant to be a feature back and this will finally give Bush the chance to play more WR.

Tennessee-Brian Robiskie WR Ohio State: I hope whoever they draft ends up a bust, but Robiskie doesn't seem like he will.

Arizona-Donald Brown RB Connecticut: Edge will be cut and Hightower had a YPC of less than 3 yards.

Pittsburgh-Eric Wood C/G Louisville: They will take a Center and I pick Wood because I like his athleticism and he's impressed me more than Unger and Mack.
