Every NFL draft analyst and expert's discussion about the top players of the upcoming NFL draft always begins and ends with Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy. Rightfully so because these are two exceptional talents at a key position. Others believe a quarterback like Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen should be included in that upper echelon of players. There is another player that belongs in this discussion though. While most mock drafts show him respect as a top five pick, people have not truly grasped the concept on how great this player is. The player in question is Eric Berry, a defensive back from Tennessee.

I think he is personally. At worst, he's right there with Suh, ahead of everyone else.

offensively speaking, if your team passes on joe mcknight from USC, you will be very very sorry that your team did. dude is a gamebreaker.

Joe McKnight isnt even the best prospect from USC, so I dont know where you are going with this. IMO Charles Brown, Taylor Mays, Everson Griffen and even Damien Williams are all better prospects. And Best, Spiller, Matthews will all be better than McKnight.

an offensive lineman from USC is a better prospect. a defensive back from USC is a better prospect. a defensive lineman from USC is a better prospect. a wide receiver from USC is a better prospect.

Berry wasnt nearly as good as Suh was last year. He regressed from his sophmore season, plays a less important position, and a position that tends to have a shorter career and bring on more injuries. Hes the 3rd or 4th best player in the draft in my opinion, and the best DB prospect since Taylor, but Suh and Bradford are, in my opinion, the number 1 and number 2 best prospects in the last 5 years.

I'm probably a little biased since Berry played high school ball literally down the street from where I live, but I think he is the best "football player" in the draft. Suh and Bradford may play positions that traditionally are of more importance but great safety play is more and more critical in the pass happy NFL of today. Just look at the starting safeties of the last few Super Bowl winners (Bob Sanders-Colts, Gibril Wilson-Giants, Troy Polamalu 2x-Steelers, and Darren Sharper-Saints).

You kind of argued against yourself here. Gibril Wilson is horrible, he's been released by the Raiders and Dolphins after only one season with each team.

Bob Sanders is good, but he's probably the most injury prone player in the league and consequently the Colts have done a lot of their winning without him on the field.

Darren Sharper did have a great year for the Saints and has had an excellent career but he gets overrated a lot because of his high interception totals and doesn't even have a job yet for the upcoming season.

Polamalu is the only one in there that I agree with but 1 out of 4 doesnt do much for your argument.
