Illinois is going to knock off Missouri week 1.

Last year Chase was on his back a ton and they have 2(?) new starting young tackles.. And Illinois DL has improved.

A healthy Rejus Benn = B10 DBs going to get raped.

If they open with a win against Clemson, I will stand and applaud.

And then I will laugh when Saban blows a 20-point lead against SW Louisiana State-Lafayette.

Alabama doesn't have to be great to make me eat my words. They just have to win more than 7 games.

I loathe preseason rankings, won't ordinate teams until after the first weekend in October. But in general:
The legit contenders for the BCS title:
Georgia, Ohio State, USC, Florida, Oklahoma, Missouri, Clemson
Next tier, teams that could crack the above group with luck:
BYU, West Virginia, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Auburn, LSU, Texas Tech, Texas, USF
Next group:
Wisconsin, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Arizona State, Oregon, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Fresno State, Michigan State, Boise State
Others I think might finish in top 25:
Pittsburgh, Kansas (not really), Purdue, Rutgers, Utah, maybe the Notre Dame/Michigan winner, UConn, Mississippi State.

Two teams that could come from out of nowhere, a la Kansas last season:
Oregon State and Georgia Tech, who gets to play VT, UGA, and Clemson and has a capable defense.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Icness, as a Pac-10 fan I'd argue that Oregon State will only surprise people outside the conference. They did finish third last year and have a pretty easy schedule...although I can't help but shake the feeling that they start out 0-2.

I'm so uncertain about the QB position at LSU that I really don't know where to rank us to be honest. The receivers, the O-line, and the run game should be outstanding, and the defense lost a lot, but always finds ways to replace people, so I'm not worried there, but we always have, at the very least, a steadying presence at QB. **** you Perriloux, we could have repeated.
