Ball State WR Love likely out of football

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Tue Sep 23, 2008 3:54 am

Dante Love may never catch another pass or play another football game at Ball State.

But the senior receiver will always have a special place in the hearts of Cardinals teammates, coaches and fans.

School officials said Monday that Love is expected to live a normal, healthy life after breaking his spine and sustaining a spinal cord injury during Saturday’s game, although he’ll likely have to give up the sport that turned him into an NFL prospect.

“His football career is expected to be over,” coach Brady Hoke said. “He has touched a lot of lives and he will continue to do so.”

Such a tough break for a kid who caught 100 passes last season.

Any ideas where he may have landed in the draft, had this not happened?

IIRC he would've landed about the third-round range.

Really sucky day for back injuries; Washington State lost a QB to a fractured vertebra as well. Best of luck to the both of them.

He was a mid-round pick, probably 4th or 5th round. He is mismatched for the NFL--he's a smaller speed guy but BSU uses him as the "Y", which is typically a bigger, stronger guy. Would have made a nice slot WR IMO.

He was so much fun to watch, I wish him nothing but the best. Really infectuous happy personality, great energy. He and Nate Ball had outstanding chemistry.
