if Tech beats Oklahoma but loses to Missouri in Big 12 championship, i dont think anybody could deny Tech at that point.
-pollsters and media have a hard on for USC squad. you already heard from talking heads, how USC in fact the most talented team and should be in the national championship despite their ranking, i would say they ll be looking for any excuse to put them in the game.
first of all, if TECH wins out, but LOSES conference championship, they would not and SHOULD NOT be rewarded. that is the problem of those conferences who wanted the BIGMONEY conference championship games. thats all it is, a way to get more money. and now they should pay for it. SHOULD mizzou defeat tech, TECH SHOULD DROP BEHIND USC! tough luck. play each and every team like the pac-10 does. and besides, if you are NOT a conference champion, it is ridiculous to play for the national championship. that is a stated goal for every team at the beginning of the year, WIN YOUR CONFERENCE.
secondly, the media does not have a HARD ON for USC. if they did, we wouldnt be stuck where we are at. remember, WE DROPPED 2 SPOTS! and quite actually, they are atttmpting to keep us back there. dropping 2 spots is proof. remember LSU being ranked #2 or #3 or something like that? ahead of USC? cmon, we all know that was ridiculous . . . and a result of media hype. how about georgia? those bozos should not have been ranked as high as they have been. and definitely NOT ahead of us.
so USC has had to wait in line for all that crap to clear out of the way. and i can say this . . . match us up with anyone, A-N-Y-O-N-E, and give us a month to prepare for that 1 game, and I like our chances. i promise this, the nation wont be watching a blowout on television.(not a shot at osu, just that we will deliver a fantastic game).

Re: The Polls: Week 12
wow, lakes, it is not like you to sound this angry, i hope you find the peace in you again and become the lakeshow we all enjoyed throughout the years. but lets look at the situation at hand ok?
at first lets look at the loses both teams acquired; if Tech loses to Missouri, Missouri in all likelihood will jump into top 10 in rankings. so Tech s lone loss would be against a top 10 team while USC s loss would be against a team that will be ranked between top 15-25. advantage: Tech
looking at the wins; Tech would ve wins over Texas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma st at that point. that s 3 ranked teams and 2 of them against likely top 10 teams. while USC would have 1 win against a top 10 team in Ohio State and maybe another win against a ranked team if either Cal or Oregon ends up ranked at the end. advantage: Tech
in conclusion, such an intelligent and objective fan like yourself should admit that Tech would have a better resume at that point. and it is not unprecedented that teams not winning their conference title game playing for the national championship.
but you know it is always sunny in USC world, i mean USC produces players that can get away with double murder and resuscitate hurricane devastated cities, no other program can claim that.

first of all, OJ is innocent and we have a reward for any information in apprehending the real criminal. but the anti-USC bias is prohibiting the investigation. secondly, he shouldve won an oscar for his movies, if it wasnt for anti-USC bias in the media. thirdly, reggie DID repair, heal and ressurect the city of new orleans and their franchise. but due to anti-USC bias and hatred, he wasnt given proper credit. and here once again, USC SHOULD BE RANKED #3 in the nation. but due to anti-USC bias in the media, we are not given the rise in the ranking.
we drop 2 spots one week, rise 1 spot the next week, stay the same another week. this is as mike tyson says, LUDICRITH! LAKESHOW is full of love and compassion. but the overwhelming HATERade drinking and bias against USC is causing the SHOW to say "ENOUGH is ENOUGH."

The media definitely gives USC the benefit of the doubt over any other team which is why I hate them.
Let's go Canes!!
It would be awesome if we could win the ACC this year.

wow, many of you need to stop drinking the HATERade. USC doesnt gain spots after victory, WE DROP 2? that is almost unheard of, nevertheless, you keep propogating, propitiating, promitigating, pontificating, propositionating, and pollutigating the board with prejudice and bias against USC.
and turc, i would definitely believe that you, as an OSU fan, would definitely be on the side of USC, knowing full well, and a first hand witness to their power and might. where is the LOVE?

Well, as a fan of the REAL OSU, the one that has beaten USC 2 of the last 3 years, I can easily attest to the fact that the "power and might" of USC is consistently overblown and mainly exists in the minds of USC, it's fans and the media. What you try to call hatred I call a cold slap of reality.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

oh, i got love for USC but in reality but they are not as invincible as they are portrayed by media and their fans. think this way, if USC was undefeated at this point, undoubtedly they would be ranked #1 the media, despite playing in a weaker conference than undefeated teams in SEC and Big 12. that s nothing but love from media but even they can do only so much once people realize USC is not untouchable.

Re: The Polls: Week 12
USC is always given the benefit of the doubt. Like Turco said, if they were undeafeated, they would undeservanly be ranked #1 ahead of teams that have had a tougher schedule.
Lakeshow, you can't really sit here and claim the media is biased againts SC? Every single year the media has found a way to rank them #1 at some point. Every year they proclaim them National champs early in the season, every other year I hear how "this USC team is the best college football team ever".
If the media could find a way to put SC at #1, they would. But at this point, they can't do it. It would be a travesty to rank USC at #3 with the cakewalk schedule they've had.

Re: The Polls: Week 12
why not? weve proven it each and every single year! weve walked into each and every conference and spanked those teams in our out of conference schedule. name it. acc, sec, big10, bigeast, you name it and weve dismantled those teams. check the books. this is as you say, each and ever single year. undefeated in our non conference schedule.
if the media could? they havent. if they could, we would already be there. but dropping 2 spots earlier proves that they dont want to. listen, teams can make their case. but i would match USC with anyone given a month to prepare. not guaranteeing a win, but that game would not be a cake walk nor blow out of the TROJANS. period. i.e. if given the opportunity, they would challenge if not blowout a team if we played. thats our history, we will be at our maximum level of playing, and a team will have to put out their best effort that day to defeat us. period. and folks know it.
and quite honestly, no one has the talent, besides possibly florida, to be able to man us up in each and every position. teams are strong here or there, but there will be weaknesses and openings. but USC will exploit an area, if not flat out defeat a team on any given position on the field.
for example defensively, i would match up our defensive backfield on any lineup of receivers. our pair of safeties are the best in college football. our linebackers are THEE best crew of linebackers in college. and our lineman, especially 1 who is ranked as #1 Dtackle in the nation, is top notch.

Lakeshow. You don't understand my point. My point is not to say USC is not good. Everyone knows they are good, but they are a media darling. Looks like I will not get anyweher with yoiu on that one.
Now as far as your theory, who ever said that anyone would beat USC by many points?
Giveb a month to prepare, this is what I would expect from USC:
Vs Texas Tech I'd take SC to win it. I am not sold on Tech yet. They beat a very good Texas team that was tired and playing on the road. Tech won the game on the last second. Now, I am open minded, let's see what they do today.
Vs Texas: I'd expect Texas to win in a neutral field, a very close game though.
vs Alabama, I take USC to win. It would be a defensive struggle, but I think SCs offense is a bit better than Bama.
Vs Florida, I think USC would lose. Florida is the more rounded team, great offense, defense, and special teams. Not a blow out though. A good game.
So yeah, given a month to prepare, SC could play with anyone. But that was not the arguement.

i agree with that, if those dbs from oklahoma locked up those receivers, we would place a gigantic beat down if we played tech. our dbs are the best in the country. besides, all we need to do is just send a few #58 blitzes up the middle to scare the QB, and that game is over.
