Week 5 Thread

Post#1 » by Da Schwab » Sat Sep 29, 2012 7:21 pm

Another week some pretty big games. We already have one big upset, with Stanford falling to Washington, and we have the potential for a few more. The major lineup...

#4 FSU vs. USF
#14 Ohio St. vs. #20 Michigan St.
Ole Miss vs. #1 Alabama
Wisconsin vs. #22 Nebraska (watch this game if you wanna see some god awful jerseys)
Tennessee vs. #5 Georgia
#12 Texas vs. Oklahoma St.

Baylor and West Virginia are slugging it out right now. Geno Smith is really making his case for a Heisman.

I got wet at Arkansas/TAMU, watching Arkansas not even try from the opening kickoff. Worst body language I've ever seen from a team so early in a game. TAMU scored once and got a stop and that game was OVER. Even the normally vociferous Tyler Wilson mailed it in for the most part. I know John L Smith is only an interim coach in a lousy position but they have to replace him right away if they want to avoid really damaging the program. I've seen programs implode before and what I saw today was an Arkansas team thisclose to it. Wouldn't surprise me at all if a lot of young players bail after the season, NFL or other schools.

Can't wait to watch WVU/Baylor!

I find it amazing that the Hogs have quit.....especially with their talent level.

John L Smith was a stupid hire, so the administration must absorb most of the blame, but yeah, I agree....they need to cut ties with him like TODAY.

Can someone explain to me how LSU gave up 22 points to Towson?

Because of an incompetent offense.

3 turnovers, a dozen drive killing penalties, QB that missed some reads and throws...killing drives, an OLine that was a sieve much of the night, a defense that was uninspired (perhaps the missing 20K in the stands helped fuel that).

Give Towson credit....but LSU was terrible on both sides of the ball......but especially bad with the ball.

I recorded the Badgers/Huskers game and finished watching it a little while ago. I must say that I think Bret Bielema's days in Madison are numbered. I know there's been some bad injuries and some bad breaks early on, but he is just an awful coach when it comes to close games. Horrible gameplanning and even worse decision making late in games.

I don't know who I would want to be brought in, but I think it's already time for a regime change.

Also, those unis were just all kinds of awful.

Oh, and Bama is now the unanimous #1 in the AP poll because of the LSU game.

Northwestern and Washington have also broken into the Top 25. Wonder when the last time that happened was?

You really know nothing about Wisconsin if you think Bielema's days are numbered. His days are only numbered if he gets a job offer from another school that has more prestige than Wisconsin like Florida or Texas or something like that.

I agree, he is entitled to a bad year. And he is absolutely having a bad coaching year. I wonder how much control they'll give him in hiring new assistants to replace the ones that take the fall for him.

Eh, fair enough. I guess I'm just frustrated with how they haven't performed very well in some big games the last two years, or so.
