Yes, he hasn't hit a homerun in over 200 at bats before tonight. Which is a good thing because Met fans don't want him to hit homeruns because it might mess up his swing.

When he first came up at the age of 19 Peter Gammons said that he's the next Miguel Tejada with speed.

I could see the Miguel Tejada comparisions. I don't think he has 35 home run power, but I could see 20-25 home run power out of him in his prime, along with the ability to hit for average.

I think his regular swing is just fine and will lead itself to many extra base hits and home runs... in time.

No one was saying this when he hit vs Boston chalk it up to a bad night jesus guys it's ok to admit defeat the Mets were better tonight plain and simple , Gomez made a wonderful play and that was the turning point.

Good news is the pitching is doing it's job.

Because he's got no plate discipline at all? We all like Robbie, but he has some serious flaws in his game. And he hasn't changed at all since he got here.

I'm talking about his plate discipline. It hasn't improved in 3 years. I know he almost won a batting title last year, but his plate discipline was awful last year and it hasn't changed this year. His value as a player is so dependent on his batting average, he doesn't take walks. He has like a .310 OBP now, that's awful.

"Reyes doesn't walk. He only has 8 walks..."
*silence*
"Wait...36 walks. But he's still a free swinger!"

teams have figured out roger.

fast baserunners could just bunt it to him and take their chances.

I dont think so...those bunts today were perfect and i dont think any pitcher whether they are 44 or 24 wouldve been able to throw out Reyes or Gomez.Arguably the top 2 fastest players in the majors

I agree, its pretty pathetic, he's the same player I saw with Trenton in 04 (i think it was 04)

This is by far the most far fetched, funny post I've ever read. Are you kidding me? Teams have figured him out? by bunting? Dude, come on, thats ridiculus. Baseball players don't figure pitchers out by bunting. Bunts are used for only a few things....to advance a runner....to get out of a slump and get on base....to get on to start a rally when a corner infielder is back.....Figuring a pitcher out doesn't happen by bunting. Reyes and Gomez are fast, probably the two fastest guys in the majors, I don't think this will be a lasting problem for Roger.

its too bad Andy isnt pitching against the mets because he would've put a stop to the stolen bases.

Or Phil, he is very good at stopping the running game.
