Andy Pettitte is the reason for tonight's loss

Post#1 » by cmaff051 » Thu Jun 21, 2007 3:54 am

:D :D :D

Just kidding NYKnstill, but the reason we lost today was because our offense didn't show up again.

So hopefully you realize that blaming Mussina for last night's loss was a little stupid seeing as how we had a fully loaded lineup tonight and couldn't do squat.

If we scored more runs, we could have taken out Pettitte before he was completely cooked.

It was evident that Pettitte was running out of gas in the 6th, but Clueless Joe said screw it, let him go beyond the 6th and into the 7th because he wanted to avoid the double switch. Instead he let the game fall apart. All he had to do was bring in Cairo to replace Phillips and a reliever to replace Pettitte, but we all know that Torre struggles even with AL strategy, so we can't expect too much when he has to actually think in terms of NL strategy.

I agree but when it comes from you NYKGM I seriously laugh the Torre criticism, it's like seeing Randy Johnson make a joke

You're the only one around here who seems to think he's at the end of his rope. He's a consumate professional and will always be. He's also smart enough to make adjustments, knows when he's not right to pitch, and I'll take him over Noah Lowry AND Jonathan Sanchez anyday

These last two starts have convinced me that Moose still has a lot in the tank. He's had a consistent 87-90 mph fastball. That's good enough for him. He'll be fine.

And he's better than Noah Lowry and Jonathan Sanchez. No questions asked. :)

yes but he also wasn't smart enough to know the pitcher was on deck when Torealba or w/e his name hit the long ball off him. Again he has to prove it ..not just vs the NL go against a big team and come out the winner not giving up 5 ER or 6 ER like he did earlier this season.

You can get excited about all these prospects but this guy has won 242 games and has pitched well in 5 of his last starts SINCE BEING HEALTHY. My god I just don't understand all the hate...The guys averaged 15 wins a year here. We're 7-10 n games Pettitte starts this year, you dont see us complaining...Because we're not idiots. We didn't get on Clippard for pitching ****. You are the only one getting on Moose. What did he say he couldn't give you an autograph outside the stadium when you were a little boy?

it's pretty simple Mussina whines and bitches about every little imperfection and never owns up to pitching like garbage when he does, he deflects every blame to his teammates and hasn't won nothing to merit any special treatment here.

P.S. WHERE IS THE GOD DAMN GAME THREAD

Celtic, you don't really want Noah do you?

I'm one of the few Celtic fans who doesn't really believe in the young guys outside of Jefferson, and possibly Rondo. Sure West, Gomes, Tony Allen are all nice players. But ideally theyre role players coming off the bench on a championship team. We need some fire in there, a big guy who knows how to win, and someone who also fits in well in the locker room. Noah will do all three. Now if we can't make a trade I want to get rid of Pierce. You're not going to win if you don't get another star in there and I'm tired of suffering through yrs in mediocrity. As a Pacer fan you should know that  . But I would rather win now with Pierce, just not at all costs.

I agree with everything you said, but I think Noah is going to fit the profile you described for guys like West and Allen. I don't see him being an elite player in his career.

But he's a center, he can play along side Jefferson and put Perkins into his role as a backup big guy. He's also a very good defensive player. If there is some way we could come out of this draft with Thornton Jeff Green or Brewer and Noah I would be thirlled to go Rondo, Pierce, SF Pick, Big Al, Noah.
