The UW Huskies should be 3rd. Please.

I don't know about third. But certainly above USC. I personally think the Pac 12 will have a very down year, though UW and USC should be good. The rest of the conference will likely be a disappointment.

My biggest problem is Clemson being so low. Should be preseason #2.

7th is fine. They'll be in the conversation for the playoff. Schedule looks good.

I'm taking Oklahoma to win it all this year. I think they finally play hard and united on behalf of their old coach that left

*NOTE: This clearly doesn't mean much yet, but posting because I think it's interesting*

Sagarin Conference Ratings (simple average for whole conference)

  1. SEC — 82.00
  2. PAC-12 — 79.16
  3. ACC — 77.61
  4. BIG TEN — 77.43
  5. BIG 12 — 76.60

Sagarin always fascinates me, although obviously this early season stuff doesn't have a lot of data from this season yet, so he has to use a lot of priors — not sure what inputs he uses. Multiple years of results, weighted toward more recent? Include something like # of returners? Does he emphasize things like whether QB is a returner, or does QB count the same as anyone else?

[No idea, and can't find detailed info on it.]

True, as a general rule. But what specifically are you referring to?

USC is where they should be now, however, they didn't deserve to move down two spots because of a close one with Western Michigan. That was a Cotton Bowl team last year, and I thought USC looked pretty solid throughout most of the game.

In Columbus, that's bold..

We played a conference rival on the road, Oklahoma played UTEP at home..

Buckeyes pass D has me a little worried, but offensively we should be able to run the ball at will. Defensively we still have a ton of talent.

I would love if UW made it again and got to play Ohio State. I need to get one up on you.

I just meant a road game against a conference opponent - but Indiana has actually played the Buckeyes close a few times in the past few years.

not really a rival but they are a division opponent, and the hoosiers can be a very frisky team

they never really win the big games like that but they sure can scare the dickens out of a better team

Well here's the deal. Last year, the raging debate was Ohio state over Penn state the conference champion, because Ohio State had a marquee win. And that debate to go to the final 4, was the win over Oklahoma. I'm saying the reverse will happen this year. Oklahoma's debate to get into the final 4. Will be a victory at OSU.
