thats how heisman works though. no matter how good a quarterback is, wins and exposure is what counts for heisman voting. if hawaii loses single game brennan wont have either and his chance of winning will be close to zero, no matter how much he deserves.

I like the idea of Dennis Dixon keeping his name in it.
If you asked me who is the most dominant player in college football, it's Glen Dorsey, but he won't get any Heisman consideration.

My ballot right now would look like this:
1. Tim Tebow, and I was certainly not high on him preseason
2. Glenn Dorsey, the best player in the country by a wide margin
3. Matt Ryan
4. Pat White
5. Mike Hart, though he's got zero shot because of their bad start. UM might not have scored in their first two games without him--in the 5 drives he's sat out due to injury they have 4 total yards.

Last defensive lineman to win a Heisman: Notre Dame's Leon Hart in 1949, and he played offense too.
There's no doubt Dorsey is a dominating force, but it's simply an offensive award. Woodson is the only guy on defense to win it since Hart and he was largely helped by his return skills. The only other defender to win the award was Yale's Larry Kelly all the way back in 1936 and he played on offense as well.
No defender has ever won it without being a significant factor in the offense or special teams. Even with a weak field, I think it's foolish to hope for Dorsey to break this trend.
