PNF, do you know anything about Ethan Johnson? I haven't seen hm play because of some injuries he's had, but he seems to be the Northwest's best prospect this year.

That guy LaGarrette Blount that Oregon signed is apparently a LenDale White clone. I'm licking my chops already.

Bellotti's gotten a couple recent commits from some lower-level prospects, so it looks like he's taking his time fleshing out a recruiting class. And he's still got a shot at Pryor.

Does anyone here know anything about LaMichael James and Chris Harper?

And Kenjon Barner is the Reggie Bush clone.

thanks for the info man. I had heard about Moore the DE from A&M thinking about ND, that would be great. I think we need more help back there.

I agree to we need some more help on the OL for sure. the kid that decommitted doesnt help. so is this kid from MI that they went to see any good? will he help sooner then later??

I know very little about him, unfortunately. I've heard he's just a flat-out beast, and he comes from a school that produced quite a few good recruits.

Uh, I mean...uh...

Oregon's probably No. 2 or 3 on his list. He supposedly really likes us and is coming out for a visit (recent news).

It's like Mike Bellotti's flexing his muscles: he just recently landed commitments from RB LaMichael James (4-star from TX; hey Mitchell!) and QB/RB Chris Harper (4-star from KS). This, coupled with the Terrelle Pryor buzz and the fact that as-of-yet-unclaimed RB Darrell Scott plans to visit Oregon, is something I don't think Bellotti's ever done before. He's literally trying to challenge USC for Pac-10 supremacy.

Julio Jones is supposedly on his way to Alabama, which will be interesting should he actually have someone to throw him the ball.

I am kinda surprised Harper went to Oregon.. I know he really liked them for a while, but wants to play QB at the next level really badly. Oregon got a big time QB out of Texas (Darron Thomas? Is that his name?). I'm surprised he's going there. Interesting. He looks like a great prospect, I think he will end up at RB though.

Early speculation is that Harper and Thomas may BOTH challenge Nate Costa and Justin Roper for the starting QB job. If one of them fails to claim it, then they'll move Thomas to WR or Harper to RB. If Pryor comes in and HE becomes the starting QB, they'll move both.

Basically, there will be literally half a dozen QBs competing for the spots, but if a couple don't work out there will be some reshuffling. (Cody Kempt will be converted to safety next year, and a BYU transfer is going to be converted to tight end.) Even at RB, where Bellotti used three guys pretty consistently last year while featuring Stewart, Oregon will have Harper compete with Jeremiah Johnson, Andre Crenshaw and LaGarrette Blount for some playing time.

Just a quick update. Moore apparently liked his visit, and A&M dropped his scholarship offer after he came to ND. So we're looking very good with him.

Mike Martin is almost certainly staying with Michigan though. But adding Lewis-Moore would still give us a nice defensive line class.

GYBE, thanks for the updates man. good stuff.

I read that he liked the visit in south bend. I havent heard about A&M dropping his scholarship. thats odd. Well I hope it works out for ND then. Moore is a 4 star player right?

and what is the latest on the running back Cyrus Gray? any new news on him? And what ever happened to the linemen that Weis went and visited in Michigan?

thanks for any info.

People are saying A&M dropped him to save face since he was going to de-commit anyways. Kansas is another possibility, but it's likely he winds up in South Bend.

Mike Martin is that lineman Weis has been visiting in Michigan. It's not impossible to get him, but most people think he'll stay committed to the Wolverines. However he is visiting next week.

Cyrus Gray verballed to Texas A&M, he's gone.

Florida just passed ND for No. 1 in recruiting rankings on Rivals, presumably because of Omar Hunter. Both classes are so good it's not even funny.

Thanks again for the updates GYBE.

So what have you heard about these players, I have heard they may end up in South Bend.

Eric Shrive - OT - 6'7" 282 lbs. from Scranton, PA

Kenneth Page - OL - 4 star guy from Columbia, South Carolina

Dexter Pratt - RB - 6'1" 215 lbs.

and are there any other players that are leaning towards signing with ND that you might know of?

thanks again for any info.

Yeah that is horrible for Notre Dame since Hunter was committed to ND.
See the funny thing I have seen about these recruiting sites is that the players rankings rise and fall almost everyday. Scout.com and Rivals.com have ND's recruiting classes listed different. and BSPN has ND listed as 3rd.

For what its worth, a recruiting class in the top three cant be a bad thing for any team.

We have a good shot with Kenneth Page. He's a smart guy who values education, distance from home is the only thing going against us. He has a shoulder problem but apparently it only requires minor surgery (most OL redshirt early anyways). Clemson, Tennessee and UNC are the other schools on his list.

Page and Lewis-Moore are our best shots right now, with Martin also a possiblity. Will Compton chose Nebraska, so I think those three are our only guys left.

I don't know anything about Shrive or Pratt, except that Pratt is a junior. I'm guessing Shrive might be too if I haven't read anything. I haven't started thinking about the next class yet, just hoping to add a couple more pieces and have all our guys sign.

In non-ND news, Julio Jones was basically kicked off Florida's campus on a visit after he was openly recruiting for Oklahoma. Guess Alabama isn't the leader anymore.

Thats great for Florida and ND...

too bad its all about THE U!!

Miami has the 8th ranked class so far..as they are in the stage of rebuilding a team like the 2001 team (best in history).

They are aiming for a team that represents signature U football..speed, athleticism, heart and great defense. They didn't have to look far as these type of players are born and raised in Miami.

They've recruited 2 five stars players (1 less than Florida and ND) on the defensive side of the ball in LB Arthur Brown (6'2 215 who ran a 4.4) and DT Marcus Forston (6'2 290..benched 225 33 times)

We also have a good shot at DE Nick Perry, VERY good shot at DB Brandon Harris and Alonzo Lawrence.

You forgot to add a criminal record.

I don't see Miami being a power for the next few years. Recruiting binges are nice, but it's all about momentum and Miami has exactly none. Hiring Randy Shannon may have been the best thing to happen to the program, but it's still tough to believe that the inmates don't run the asylum.
