You know what's funny about the LSU-ARK game? I was watching it at a sports bar with (among other people) an NFL beat writer who knows his scouting well. We got to talking and we both had the same thought:
McFadden is a very talented back, but everything they do at ARK to help him out ain't gonna happen for him in the pros, and his very clear lack of breakaway speed means he's not going to burst through holes the way a Willie Parker or Adrian Peterson can. So even though he played a phenomenal game and showed tremendous grit and leadership, he was not impressive from a scouting standpoint.
That's one of the bummers of scouting and player evaluation--it's hard to ignore the faults and enjoy the awesome moments. Great game, great win for Houston Nutt--a class guy who deserves better. Great day for OSU and WVU fans too--that game essentially guaranteed one of those two is playing for a national title.

I desperately want ND's O-line coach fired (and he almost certainly will be after this season), and Arkansas's Markuson is my first choice to replace him. Even before McFadden, the Razorbacks have always had great offensive lines.
