BCS National Championship

Post#1 » by Jake0890 » Sun Dec 2, 2012 1:04 am

Alabama just beat Georgia 32-28. Alabama will presumably play Notre Dame in the National Championship.

I think any of the top 6 SEC teams would beat Notre Dame, so IMO, this is going to be a big Bama victory.

There's no way Bama gets anywhere near that running game against Notre Dame. Georgia's defense in the second half was hilarious. And McCarron's just not that good.

One stupid offshore bookmaker (5 dimes) opened ND +10.5 and got SMASHED by the public and wiseguys alike. The line will probably settle at +7.5.

I think Notre Dame has a real shot as long as Gholson plays well.

Georgia has a much better secondary than ND and probably the best pass rusher in college football. If McCarron comes zoned in, I could see him having a field day on their secondary. Bama won't put up 300+ rushing yards against ND obviously, but they won't shut the running game down either.

Gholson will have to play a perfect game in order to beat Bama.

No QB has had a field day against the secondary. The Oklahoma passing attack is better than Bama's and they put up 13 points.

Stephon Tuitt has 1 less sack than Jarvis Jones. I don't think any team has a better front 7 than the Irish.

I think the game is going to be quite close. You have to understand, Notre Dame fans have been told they were going to lose to multiple teams this year. Oklahoma was supposed to be a beatdown. Every time, the Irish come up huge. This team has earned our trust at this point.

'Bama isn't THAT good, and Notre Dame has a great defense. I think Notre Dame wins, but not by much.

LOL no.

I legitimately think Bama is the only team in the nation with a real shot at beating Notre Dame, and that's because of all the talent in their defense.

I think this will be a horrifyingly boring national championship game. I haven't seen the O/U for the game yet, but if it's above 30, I'd be surprised.

I don't know how Notre Dame is going to score more than twice offensively. I like the Irish D but Bama is capable of scoring at least 4 times. Even if it's one TD and 3 FGs, that's enough to win.

I certainly agree the ND offense has the tougher task on January 7th. But one thing to keep in mind is that most of the teams that have beaten Alabama under Saban had mobile quarterbacks.

My biggest offensive concern is the receivers gaining separation from the DB's. Eifert is good enough that Golson can just throw it up to him covered, but the other guys need to get open. It's the worst group of WR's since before Weis came. I would KILL to have someone like Golden Tate or Michael Floyd for this game.

Because of that, I think it will be up to Golson to run for a lot of first downs. Bama's struggles with running QB's gives me some hope.

To an earlier post: there are plenty of teams capable of beating ND. They are unbeaten, deserve to be in the game, and have a terrific defense. But they also escaped with their lives several times this year against mediocre teams.

They are hardly invincible....but no question about it, their defense is really good which offers them an opportunity to win the game

But I think that Bama has been tested much more, has more depth, and Saban will have had a month to address his secondary......so Bama will beat them, 27-14.

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

This ND team isnt going out there to play pattycake thats for sure.

Bama barely sqeaked in and ND is number 1.
I want to mention Theo Riddick.

Gholston can break contain and put pressure on the Bama D.

Norte Dame d line not getting a whole lot of penetration on that opening drive. Lacey picked up an easy five yards before even getting touched.

Looking like the Bama blowout I expected. ND is just not as good as other SEC teams.

This game is such a mismatch. Its like a high school varsity team playing against the freshmen team.

Is Notre Dame playing?
