OT - College Gameday Thread

Post#1 » by Cactus Jack » Sat Sep 11, 2021 7:17 pm

The college football forum hasn't gotten a ton of traffic lately. Time to change that if there are any college football fans.

I know numbers don’t show it, but CJ Stroud didn’t have the greatest game. I know the raw stats look great, but many over throws all game and at least 4-5 throws that could’ve easily been intercepted.

Very curious to see how long till the Ewers chants get real loud. Any other school this wouldn’t be a conversation. But Ewers is so highly hyped, it’s just a matter of time.

HUGE win for Oregon to start off the day! With UCLA beating LSU fairly easily last week PAC 12 starting well. Colorado beating Texas A&M now too.

The Pac-12 is so bad it's good
The league's biggest problem in the College Football Playoff era hasn't been a lack of ability. It has been too much parity. While the other Power 5 leagues have been dominated by juggernauts like Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma, the Pac-12 has had a handful of good teams, but no great ones. Look around the league through two weeks in 2021, however, and the league is mostly a hot mess.

USC got drubbed by a bad Stanford team. Washington is 0-2, including a loss to FCS Montana. Utah lost the Holy War for the first time since 2009. In nonconference play, the Pac-12 is an embarrassing 10-11 overall.

Some big wins though, for 2 of the 3 undefeated teams (Oregon and UCLA) and Ariz St plays BYU this week. As long as those teams stay hot, if one team can finish undefeated and one or two with 1 loss, or 3 teams with 1 loss, than it will bode well, especially if it's Oregon.

UCLA plays Oregon and AZ St so if they can run the table prior to championship and then beat Oregon again in the championship that would be huge.

Or better yet, if UCLA could beat AZ St and go into the championship with only a loss to Oregon, and an undefeated Oregon team could beat them again, it would look good of Oregon.

Or even if AZ St finished undefeated with a win against UCLA and lost a championship against undefeated Oregon, Oregon should make the playoff.

yay hawks win!

defense is still really good, offense actually showed signs of life - barely but its something. running game was solid, and petras is in full-on game manager mode with about one downfield throw a game (everything else is 10 yards or less). at some point the offense is probably going to need to do something to win a game and i'm not terribly confident they are capable of it

iowa plays offense like both hands are tied behind their back but it hasn't burned them yet - just keep winning!

wooooooooooo hawkeyes!!!!!!!!!!

really terrible looking injury for demus, maryland star wr. seemed like that might have taken a little wind out of the terps sail, and then the wheels fell off with all the turnovers. that second quarter got out of hand quickly

but it looks like iowa might have a functioning offense! which is more than what i could say the first four weeks

Yeah, too competitive and not as many weak teams GA and Bama look very tough. Not sure about Iowa and Penn St and the Mich schools but the former two play each other this week and the others will play each other. Not sure how many others play someone.

Both OKLA schools undefeated too.
