No surprises here. Michigan falls from #5 to outside the Top 25 with just 39 votes in the AP Poll, after their loss to App. State.

And, FSU drops from #19 to the outside looking in, after their loss to Clemson, and recieves just 22 votes.

Thus, proving the uselessness of the Preseason Top 25.

And, once AGAIN, the poll disappoints by ranking Tennessee as the only team without a win in the top 25.

They can't do anything right.

They lost by 2 TDs to a team ranked higher than them so I don't see it being a big deal that Tennessee stayed in the top 25. Had they lost to a team ranked lower or not at all I would agree they should fall out of the top 25, but just because they are 0-1 doesn't mean they aren't superior to some of the teams that are now 1-0 by beating up on a little team like Murray State.

I still fail to see how USC's ho-hum performance against a powder-puff team warrants such overwhelming support as the top team in the nation. Consistently over-rated...as usual.

I can't say I disagree, but its hard to say any of the other teams in the top 10 now are more deserving. All the teams that longed strong did it against weak teams. So until some of the other teams in the top 15 look really strong against some of the other top 15 teams you won't see too much movement in the rankings.

these rankings are crap. they basically send the message that you shouldn't play good teams ooc. cal beats the #15 team in the country (from the oh so mighty sec fwiw) by 2 tds and moves up 2 spots (1 of those due to a team ahead of them losing). tenn loses to a higher ranked team on the road and almost drops out of the rankings from #15. the risk/reward isn't there.

meanwhile texas has a pathetic outing against scrub u and virginia tech scores like 1 offensive td against mighty eastern carolina and they're both ahead of cal. why? we have 1 week of games to go off of. i'd say cal looked better than va tech or texas did. why is cal ranked lower?

basically, had cal and tenn both schedules creampuffs (and not michiganed it) then cal would be right about the same place we're at and tenn would be #14.

the risk in scheduling a top opponent ooc seems to outweigh the reward. maybe its time for everyone to go sec style and schedule a bunch of directional schools and d1aa teams ooc and then say "look at how great our teams are, they have good ooc records."

oh, and who is still voting for michigan? does rick majerus have a ballot?

I'm doing my best to avoid the polls so I never look at it. The only thing annoying is that the rank is always beside the team every week and it is even shown in games. I think the whole thing is a complete joke.
