Week 3 Games thread
Games of note for the weekend of Sept. 13-15:
West Virginia at Maryland on ESPN Thursday night in a game to bet on the over if it's anything below 90
USC at Nebraska, which could be a close game if the Blackshirts get some early confidence and Sam Keller doesn't suck
Ohio State at Washington--first real test for a fearsome OSU defense
Notre Dame at Michigan--someone has to win, someone has to worry about getting the axe
Tennessee at Florida--always an epic matchup in the SEC East, the best part of the best conference.
Arkansas at Alabama--McFadden gets a taste of a Saban defense in a key SEC West matchup
Ohio U. at Virginia Tech, the debut of true freshman Tyrod Taylor at QB, who some are calling better than Vick. Go Bobcats!
Louisville at Kentucky--finally the football game might just match the intensity and competitiveness of their basketball rivalry. Good game to watch to scout out QBs
BC at GT in a game that could decide the ACC
So. Miss at East Carolina--two of the best non-BCS teams

Charlie Weis will not be getting fired at the end of the season, no matter the record.
I'm hoping ND can win this game. I think Clausen will have a good game against a not so good defense.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?

Word. You're usually on point Icness, but Weis has some of the best job security in the game. He's lead them to two straight BCS games and everyone knew this was a rebuilding year. Not to mention his massive contract.
Yeah, they've looked horrible, but GT and Penn State are a couple of pretty good teams.

well that sucks for TCU getting upset and losing for the 2nd straight week. i watched til halftime and woke up and the score was tied up at 17. then TCU has a chance to win and throws it to the endzone and throws an INT. bad throw and good break on the ball by the Air Force DB. then they go into OT the TCU kickers a 91% career kicker and misses his 2nd FG in OT tonight. and the eagles get a 10 yard run and kick a chipshot for there kicker Ryan Harrison.
That kicker for Air Force will likely have a future in the league, he was ineligible last year but so far this year is 6/7 and he made a 57 yarder tonight and it could have probably gone about 65 yards, they also said he's made a 61 yarder in a scrimmage before so id have to think this kid is the real deal.
its a shame TCU doesnt have much of an offense b/c there defense is for real, they're starting a redshirt freshman so im sure he'll be good in a couple years but that teams built to win now, im sure when he's older that defense will rebuild and remold itself into another top unit.

I don't think Weis has to worry yet, but this could be one of those games that his increasing band of enemies will use as ammo to oust him if they're terrible again next year, which just might be the case. If they get blown away by what has been a terrible Michigan team, it's not going to be good for him long-term. Although it will probably kill all those "He's leaving for the NFL" rumors...

Big win for the Falcons last night. This may be the year that Air Force returns to make a run for the MWC crown and a possible ranking, plus a shot at the 'Commander in Chiefs' Trophy.
I'm actually a pretty big fan of this team and have been for a while. My uncle used to be in the AF and he played for the football team from '78-'81.
The teams he played on were never any good, but in his freshman year, he did get to play for Bill Parcells. My uncle always told me how great it was to play for him (even though it was only one season).
Haven't been to one of the games since Nov. of '03, hope to go back soon.

Against the might of Nebraska?

I'm gonna take LSU in another upset this week.
