Lots of insider and pay sites are reporting Carr will resigny, most likely following the Ohio State game.
Early rumours have Les Miles pining for the job.
Discuss.

Carr leaves a lasting legacy that will forever be tainted by what could have been. The Michigan faithful are losing a great one.

yea, even if he doesnt want to leave he is going to be forced to resign. you cant lose to D-II team and lose to OSU 5 out of 6 years and expect to stay. i ll be praying that they dont get les miles.

If he resigns it's on his own free will. No way Michigan fires him--they want him to continue to represent the school in fund-raising and perhaps as the public face of the AD.
I have been hearing many of the same things from UM insiders, that Carr is going to coach his last game in their bowl. Les Miles is certainly at the top of their short list, but I'll give you a name that I've heard that makes some sense: Jim Harbaugh.

I'd traditionally be quick to dismiss Harbaugh's name but there's definitely something to it. He brings the attitude and a bit of name-brand swagger, but he'd go from being loved to being vilified with the swipe of a pen.

harbaugh? the guy publicly insulted michigan a few months ago. plus he has no experience. i'd imagine michigan would go after miles and if he says no then turn to taking another top 20 program's coach. sort of like the unc takes roy williams from ku so ku takes self from illinois so etc wave from a few years ago.

I wonder if this situation will get Sam McGuffie having second thoughts.

I'm on fire. First, I break A-Rod signing before any major news outlet, and here I'm dead on about Carr resigning after the OSU game. You're all free to worship me.

this was pretty obvious and expected since week 1.

Maybe that it was his last season, but not many coaches resign before their bowl game.
And Feng, I never said ND would have a good season. I said
Weis is a better coach than Willingham. But that's an opinion, and hardly related to news stories so I have no idea why it's even brought up.

I'll give you a little Muppet News Flash about Weis:
He gets to a BCS game next season, or else...
The players are absolutely sick of his bullying and constant negative tone directed at them. I will not be surprised if at least 5 guys transfer out. There's not a guy on that team who likes Claussen either.

Expecting a BCS berth off a 2/3 win season is way too unrealistic. Plus, he'll have 7 years on his deal still. A buyout would be mammoth. The ND basketball team desperately needs a new facility, and the buyout alone could probably pay for it.
I think the player discontent problem stems from a real disconnect between the young guys and the older players. The 5th year guys and seniors still see themselves as the leaders, except the problem is outside of Trevor Laws they all suck. They still saw themselves as the team that went to two straight BCS bowls and expected the young guys to worship them. The young guys see these mediocre players and don't really care for what they have to say. You'll see on any big plays, vets congradulate vets and young guys run over to young guys. Weis has said he's offering no 5th years for seniors so there should be some better chemistry.
I agree the players don't like Clausen. But you don't have to like your QB, you just have to respect him. If he has a lot more games like he had against Duke, they'll respect him. And if not, I guess Dayne Crist will be starting sooner rather than later.
And negative tone? They're freakin 2-9, I'd expect some criticism. As long as Weis also criticizes himself and his staff for a bad job as well. Everyone involved with the program deserves criticism for this season.
