Best College Team EVER?

Post#1 » by CJ_18 » Mon Jan 28, 2008 5:51 pm

With all the talk about NE being the best team ever in the NFL, who do you think is the best team ever in college football?

I have to say the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. That year they went undefeated and destroyed Nebraska in the National Championship.

Here are some of their notable players from that year:

QB Ken Dorsey
HB Clinton Portis (drafted 51st in 02)
HB Frank Gore (drafted 65 in 05)
TE Jeremy Shockey (drafted 14 in 02)
WR Andre Johnson (drafted 3 in 03)
LT Bryant McKinnie (drafted 7 in 02)

And there AMAZING Defense:

RE Jerome McDougle (drafted 15 in 03)
DT William Joseph (drafted 25 in 03)
WLB D.J. Williams (drafted 17 in 04)
MLB Jonathan Vilma (drafted 12 in 04)
CB Mike Rumph (drafted 27 in 02)
CB Phillip Buchanon (drafted 17 in 02)
SS Ed Reed (drafted 24 in 02)
FS Sean Taylor (drafted 5 in 04)

8 our of their 11 defensive players were drafted before 28 in the NFL Draft.

defensive holding and face mask calls that was not given have the same consequence as the pass interference.

it looked like the Miami defender was 'jamming' gamble for the allowed five yards. and even if he was holding him, it had no effect on gamble catching it the ball...neither did facemask as the play was pretty much over.

I do think holding was the only call that couldve made sense..but the ref threw the flag after the play was done so i dont think he was sure about the holding or else he wouldve called it before he saw the missed pass. its kindof like in basketball where a little foul happens, but the official waits to see if the shot goes in before making the call.

i think there was some contact, but nothing so serious to call b/c gamble wasnt even being touched when the ball was in his hands..he had a GREAT opportunity to catch it and straight up blew it.

How far Miami has fallen
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

doesnt matter whether he had no effect, he was the target man and he was being held, which was suppose to be the call.

as for facemask, ball was still in the air at the time of the interaction thus should ve been called facemask penalty.

dont you think if the ref was sure about holding he wouldve called it before gamble dropped it? and if you were to call that facemask that would just be flat out screwing miami.

But w/e it was like 7 years ago.

field judge signaled it.

and no, if a team commits a penalty, that team is screwing themselves.

'so so great" miami team had many chances to win that game but they blew it, if "refs beat us" excuse makes the U fans sleep comfortable at night, so be it. at the end OSU beat them fair and square.
