SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse head coach Greg Robinson, who was hired to resurrect a faltering program and instead saw it plummet to historic lows, was fired on Sunday.

Robinson, who had the only two 10-loss seasons in school history, was 9-35 in three-plus seasons at the helm and 3-23 in the Big East. He had another year on a contract that paid him $1.1 million per season.

All I can say is it's about damn time.

Why couldn't they just let him ride it out? Its not as if it would've harmed the program any further.

i think we might take a trip up there in a few years, and bring in more money for their program at home. but before we did that, they wanted to clean house.

And they used to be incredible in the '50s and '60s. Not to mention, they've produced Donovan F. McNabb and Dwight Freeney in today's game.

How in the world do you go from those two guys to the high-school JV also-ran the Orange run out into the Carrier Dome?

Better late than never.

It's shame that program has fallen so far.

Brown, Little, Kelly, Csonka, Warfield, Davis, Mitchell, McNabb, Harrison..........etc

The hot name is Turner Gill from Buffalo, who has recruited that region and the Youngstown/Pittsburgh area better than Robinson lately. He'd be a nice choice but I'd like to see them take a chance on a I-AA coach with a track record of winning in tough places.

One of the issues for Syracuse is the weather. When they bring recruits up after the HS seasons are over, it's late fall and there's usually snow or crappy conditions. Their facilities aren't great and nobody wants to play in a dome anymore. They also haven't been real receptive to JUCO transfers.
