Chip Kelly named Oregon's next head coach?

Post#1 » by PhilipNelsonFan » Tue Dec 2, 2008 11:44 pm

A press conference is slated to take place this afternoon, in which the Oregon athletic department is expected to announce that current Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti will be named athletic director and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly will be named head coach. Both moves will likely take place over the course of the summer.

The Oregonian and several others have broken the story.

Quick analysis: This move is not unexpected, as Bellotti has been seen as the natural successor to the athletic director position. It was a question of whether or not Kelly would remain with the Ducks, so the timing lined itself up perfectly and Oregon has decided to act.

More soon.

good move, but belotti is a better head coach who should be remaining on. he has remained consistent within the program and has gone through the ups and downs. but hey, better now than later.

Wasn't Kelly recently rumored for the Syracuse job? I guess this would be one way to counter that potential.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.
