Dec. 21 Bowl Games OFFICIAL THREAD

Post#1 » by PhilipNelsonFan » Sun Dec 21, 2008 1:30 pm

R+L CARRIERS NEW ORLEANS BOWL (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN): Southern Miss vs. Troy

I never saw either team play and I might not even watch this game. But you want a prediction? Go with the team that suffered three of its four losses at the hands of Ohio State, Oklahoma State and LSU. That'd be Troy, who also lost to Louisiana-Monroe, but that's still better than Southern Miss' home loss to Marshall.

SoMiss really turned their season around, allowing just 37 points in their last 4 games--all wins that made them bowl eligible. They've got a freshman WR who is near as good as Julio Jones too. But Troy had LSU dead to rights in Baton Rogue at night, and they did some things offensively against Ohio State. I went with Troy as my #18 confidence pick. You draftniks will want to watch the Troy safety Sherrod Martin, who will be a 2nd-4th round pick as a corner and will be at the Senior Bowl. Real good ballhawk.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Southern Miss was a good team this season that had their ups and downs but manage to put together a good season. Even though we didnt play them this season, we played them in the CUSA championship game a couple of seasons back. They have one of the best runningbacks in the CUSA in Damion Fletcher and DeAndre Brown is a stud freshman receiver who dominated this season.

I'm picking Southern Miss in this one.

F**k...DeAndre Brown fractured his lower leg in the first half. Wonder how badly that sets him back.

Yeah I just seen the video of it on youtube. That was a nasty injury, I hope he gets better.
