The pollsters corrected what was the most glaring omission to date by removing Texas from the No. 2 spot and adding in Alabama. Much as I want to claim SEC bias, I sat down and really watched some football yesterday and it's pretty obvious who Nos. 1 and 2 should be. And yes, they should both be from the SEC.
Virginia Tech and Boise State get rewarded, although Cincinnati should be ahead of Ohio State and maybe even USC. They are as legitimate as you can get right now.
I believe (bias firmly enforcing this) that Oregon is a better team than Iowa and TCU right now, but that may sort itself out later. The Mountain West is no picnic, and I don't know how far Iowa can go this season.
The quality of football this year seems to be much worse than previous years. There are maybe 20 teams that have separated themselves and a giant mess at the end. If I had a say, I'd vote Idaho in as a top-25 team at this point because, hell, they've differentiated themselves as well as anyone else.
Also, shout-out to Duke for beating NC State 49-28 at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh yesterday. Thaddeus Lewis had over 400 yards passing and five touchdowns; he could be a future pro.

iowa keeps inching up, although i think they are a few spots too high
but if they continue to minimize mistakes, with they way they play defense, they will be in every game
boise back in the top 5, woo

after we kill the rest of our schedule there is no doubt who should be in the national title game.

Re: Week 7 CFB poll: Who's No. 2?
No question that Florida and Bama are better than everyone else. But only one of them can go undefeated. That makes the question: what other team (assuming the UF/Bama winner is unbeaten) plays for the national title?
Texas has to beat Oklahoma and probably a decent Nebraska team (or Kansas) in the Big 12 title game to make it. I don't see all that happening for them, not when pathetic Colorado beat them for a half.
USC has to convincingly run the table and simultaneously hope the rest of the PAC 10 doesn't look awful (read: Cal and Washington must make good bowls). That's a tough sell.
TCU has to run the table and dominate in doing so. Easier said than done though that defense is legitimately great. Boise will run the table but their schedule is cupcake city. I think Boise gets into the BCS but not the national title game, not with that schedule.
Virginia Tech is poised to win out, with their lone loss to Bama and some nice wins mixed in there. They need to convincingly wax the Virginias and NC States of the ACC to build momentum.
Ohio State can win out, punking Iowa and having their lone blemish a close loss to USC. I think for the Buckeyes to make it: USC must lose another, TCU needs a loss, both Florida and Bama need a loss before the SEC title game, and VT needs another loss or some squeaker games.
Oregon can make it if they run the table, but again the rest of the Pac !0 has to help them. The Big 10>>Pac 10 beyond the first two teams in each conference.
Cincinnati is the best bet. They've already played their most dangerous games, they've got a Heisman candidate at QB and the national media is adopting them as darlings. And yes, Cincy is definitively the best team in the state of Ohio. I say that as a lifelong Buckeye fan too.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Re: Week 7 CFB poll: Who's No. 2?
I think the polls seem fair this week. A couple things jump out to me. 1. I like how Oklahoma went down a spot even though they won. They are a 3-2 team and really shouldn't be in the top 25. 2. I don't like ND being ranked going into USC. Im a big ND fan and I think if they weren't ranked going into the game, they'd have more of a chip on their shoulder. Oh well, hopefully Clausen has a monster game, otherwise, ND will be done.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?
