What other Bernie is there? You don't think Bernie is a top 15 CF?

Eh, you're a lot more optimistic on Beltran than I am, just look at what he did in 2005. I'm not sure he can stay at the high level that he was last year.

Huh?

You asked,"who else besides these six guys is better than Jim Edmonds?" and I replied, "Bernie Williams?"

Basically, I think Bernie Williams is better than Jim Edmonds.

Look at my post a couple higher than yours when you said that. I said Bernie was in there. Then you put Bernie Williams? so I thought you meant no way could be in there.

Oh, and your wrong about Bernie being better.

Jones is overrated. He was outstanding defensively early in his career but he has gotten thicker and his defense is not what it used to be. He's going to be playing LF in two years. And while he might end up hitting 500 HRs, he definately had a schizophrenic career. mahalo

Uh Yeah. Hello?? He might not be on the potent cocktail he was once on, but surely he's on HGH. Just like almost all of the ballplayers. There is no test for it, so why would you not take it if it's going to help your body recover faster?

This is such a myth. He is still without a doubt the best CF in the game.

It will all come out one day. When he was with the Angels he used the regular old steroids which were easily available in Mexico. Then when he moved onto the Cards, he hooked up with McGuire who turned him onto the same steroid cocktail similar to what players like Sosa, Bonds and Giambi used.

Well, considering Andruw Jones is the best defensive CF I've seen in my lifetime, now JUST entering the prime of his career offensively with back to back years with 50+ & 40+ HR's respectively... He's going to be an easy first ballot HOF when it's said and done... He's STILL a great defensive CF... LF in two years? Are you kidding me? He still makes it look effortless...
Jim Edmonds doesn't stack up to him...
Andruw Jones is only 29!!!

ZOMG teh HoMRunZ!!!

Edmonds has 9 fulls seasons were his OBP is better than Jones' best.

Edmonds has 6 full seasons were his EQA is better than Jones' best.

Jones' slight defensive edge over Edmonds doesn't make up for Edmonds' clear offensive advantage.

It's pretty clear Jones doesn't stack up to Edmonds...yet

Andruw Jones is only 29 years old... He's already matched Edmonds career HR totals, RBI totals, and nearing his total hits... He's just now entering the prime of his career offensively and STILL can play great defense in CF. Edmonds is going to be 37 years old at midseason... Talk about OBP. and SLG all you want... Andruw Jones is the BEST defensive CF in my lifetime... Period. For as good as Edmonds was and making all of those spectacular catches Jones made those plays standing up... Absolutely unbelievable range in CF... Could also make the dazzling catches Edmonds couldn't get to...

Andruw Jones is the better defensive CF by a lot now...and the better hitter. Age is catchin up to Jimmy.

When you look at what Jimmy's done over his career, he's ahead of Andruw but not for too much longer. Andruw Jones is an amazing talent.

While Im a huge Cardinals fan, i've grown up watching a lot of Braves games (TBS baby)...and Andruw is someting special

Edmonds's career OPS is just as good as Jones's career HIGH OPS. Jones's career OPS is a paltry .848 as well.
So when is this plane going down? I'll ride it til' it hits the ground!

Since we're just throwing out random accusations, the entire New York Mets ballclub are juice-heads, fact.

Except for Shawn Green and Tom Glavine; the only thing they juice are prunes.

And its still only 38 points higher. And the funny thing is that Edmonds numbers really started to jump when he hit 30 and arrived in Stl. Andruw has been putting up big numbers since he was 21 his second full season and will continue to improve. Edmonds is in this dicussion for the moment when all is said and done and both players retire this will not even be a discussion. Jones will be better and continue to get mentioned in the same breath as Mays and the other greats in CF.

Just a side note if they gave out Gold glove according to position would Edmonds have the last 6 gold gloves he has?

Only 38 points higher? Yeah, and Babe Ruth only hit 332 more homers than Jim Rice.
