Running Back Rankings

Post#1 » by hermes » Thu Jul 16, 2009 10:23 pm

RealGM Staff Rankings

1. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota

If you have the first pick, just do the right thing.

2. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville

Fred Taylor is in New England, which bodes well for MDJ. He’s also more of a threat in the passing game than Peterson.

3. Chris Johnson, Tennessee

The Titans don’t appear to have changed their philosophy; they’ll run more often than not. LenDale White looks to have lost some weight, but Jeff Fisher still likes Johnson.

4. Steven Jackson, St. Louis

He finished 2008 with a strong run after some injury concerns. He managed 1,042 yards and eight total touchdowns in just twelve games. Can you imagine if he stays healthy?

5. Matt Forte, Chicago

He touched the ball at least sixteen times in every game last season.

they ranked the top 65

there are also links to ranking of TE's, K's, D's, and WR's

westbrook will probably finish higher than he's ranked here, and i think Slaton will out perform his ranking as well (top 15ish)

also think McFadden and Hightower are a little too high, and Beanie Wells is a little too low
hightower isn't stealing any carries from wells

McFadden is ranked 27th behind guys like Ahmad Bradshaw. How is that too high?

What do you guys think Pierre thomas is going to do this year? I've seen him all over the board on rankings.

Also, how do you think the Thomas Jones thing is going to play out with Leon Washington holdout nad his own holdout coupled with the drafting of Shonn Greene?

How do you rank these 3 wideouts in a PPR format league:

Wes Welker
Colston
TO

i think Pierre is going to have a nice year, not #1 back nice obiously because of the way the saints pass, but i think he can give Reggie owners some headaches

and Jones is on the wrong side of 30, he won't duplicate last year. i am a hawkeye fan so i like Greene a lot, so it might not be a bad idea to grab him in the later rounds

i would avoid the other two becasue of the uncertainty

i would go with the order you have them

brady is going to go to welker a lot as he gets back into the flow, Colston is in a pass-happy offense
and TO is TO

You like Pierre Thomas nice enough to take him over Addai, Thomas Jones, Run DMC (obviously bc you aren't high on him), Derrick Ward, Knowshon Moreno???

(PPR league, of course)

PS. I have Reggie Bush as a keeper already and I can most likely take Pierre with the 7th overall pick but am deciding between Welker/Colston and DMC/Pierre thus far.

Thoughts on pairing Pierre Thomas AND Reggie Bush in a PPR league starting backfield?

for PPR i would go
Moreno
Addai
Thomas/Ward
DMC
Jones

i think that wouldn't be such a bad thing, keep in mind that you would have two running backs on a pass oriented team (although one is essentially a wr)

unless there is another (better) option out there, you could go with it
make sure to have some backup for the bye week

btw, i'd go welker over Colston (if it's PPR), he's the more valuable option

:uhoh: yes?

your right, it would probably be best to put Addai in the top spot (for now) , but i think by the end of the year Moreno is going to take charge of the back field in Denver

Who do guys like for the #1 pick in a PPR league? Peterson or MJD?

i'd say not peterson, doesn't catch enough passes

i would consider MJD or Forte for number 1
