Scrap heap RB for Week 6

Post#1 » by Friend_Of_Haley » Tue Oct 13, 2009 6:59 am

Depending on the condition of Willie Parker, I need to pick up a RB for week 6. Might even keep him for the rest of the year depending on what happens with the Steelers backfield when Parker does get healthy.

Some FA right now in my league:
Correll Buckhalter, Den RB Q @SD
Fred Taylor*, NE RB Q Ten
Mike Bell, NO RB Q NYG
Jerome Harrison, Cle RB @Pit
LeSean McCoy, Phi RB @Oak
Larry Johnson, KC RB @Was
Mewelde Moore, Pit RB Cle
Leon Washington, NYJ RB Buf
Heath Evans, NO RB NYG
Michael Bush, Oak RB Phi
Sammy Morris, NE RB Ten
Derrick Ward, TB RB Car
Jamal Lewis, Cle RB @Pit

I'm thinking Taylor or Morris from NE. Maybe McCoy (going against Oakland). Tashard Choice is also available, but doesn't help me for week 6 since he is off as well. Buckhalter is a possibility based on health, except I already have Moreno. I guess it wouldn't be bad because I get points if either scores, but won't get a ton from either. Washington is also a possibility, going against a pretty bad Buffalo team that also just let Jamal Lewis run for over 100 yards. And Washington has been pretty consistent at least. I also have some roster flexibility and may be able to pick up two.

Do you get return yards, and / or PPR?

If so Leon Washington is #1 with a bullet from my point of view. He might be #1 anyway.

Fred Taylor is hurt, perhaps season ending, although they are hoping he'll come back late and did not put him on the IR.

I think I would rank then:

Washington
Buckhalter
Bush ( short term only)
McCoy -best potential if Westbrooke is hurt again, plus hes already had his bye week.

We don't get return yards just Return TD.

I was thinking Washington too. Morris was gonna be my second choice. Not sure though. I see good arguments for Buckhalter and McCoy though. Oh and I'm definitely going to do two. I have Glenn Coffee, but he has a bye and after that Gore should be back making Coffee less valuable. So whoever my second choice is after Washington will replace Coffee.

Some decent RB's available.. must be a 10 team league with a short bench. I like Washington, Mccoy, , Lewis (had 31 carries last week), Morris, Bush, Buckhalter (although he's hurt and may not play next week along with Moreno seemingly taking over so I probably wouldn't touch him). Washington and McCoy have great matchups which may get them more work than usual this upcoming week. Good news is at least you have options.

Yea I definitely have options. Its only a 8 team league, with a normal bench. Right now my RBs are Ronnie Brown, Moreno, Parker, and Coffee. Parker is possibly out and Mendenhall has come on strong. Brown has a bye. Coffee has a bye and won't be as valuable once Gore returns. After this week I'm pretty happy with Brown and Moreno as my main two backs, just need a guy for this week who can also fill my flex spot when I want.
