2010 Break-Out Candidates!

Post#1 » by Sinistar6 » Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:14 pm

Hello All,

As we get closer to the Fantasy Season this is a thread we can post (and discuss) our break-out candidates for this year.

(Break-Out Candidate Definition- someone who may fly under the radar and post numbers far exceeding their presumed draft position. IE- 2009 breakout candidate Ray Rice)

I'll start and breakdown by position-

QB- Jay Cutler - Chicago Bears
Projected FF Draft Rounds: 6-7
Summary: Martz, under-rated receiving corpse, and a good defense to keep the ball in his hands
Sinistar Projection: 3900 yds / 29 TDs /18 INT
Buyer Beware: Offensive line is more suspect than Anderson Cooper

RB - Jahvid Best - Detroit Lions
Projected FF Draft Rounds: 4-6
Summary: Speed/Vision/ busted ass Kevin Smith/ legit passing game and other offensive weapons
Sinistar Projection: 1100 yds / 11 TDs
Buyer Beware: Opposing Defenses are the Bull and Best is the China Shop

WR - Donnie Avery - St. Louis Rams
Projected FF Draft Rounds: 9-last
Summary: Bradford great Long ball thrower, Avery is the deep threat.
Sinistar Projection: 1000 yds / 7 TDs
Buyer Beware: "You may run like Mays, but you catch like ****"

TE: John Carlson - Seattle Seahawks
Projected FF Draft Rounds : 8-11
Summary: who the f@!* else will they throw to in the red zone?
Sinistar Projection: 750 yds /9 TDs
Buyer Beware: Carlson stated, "OMG how old is my QB?!?!?

DEF/SPEC: DA BEARS
Projected FF Draft Rounds: The Last 2
Summary: Hester/Manning returning with a dash of Knoxville. Healthy Urlacher,
Bad Azz Briggs, and the rest of Pepper's Peppers.
Sinistar Projection: Top 3 Fantasy Defense.
Buyer Beware: Cutler hits the Lincoln Park drink specials and the ditzy blondes
on Saturday Night
Next time the cult's spaceship lands we'll all be wearing black Starburys.

QB - Matt Ryan - I think he has a big year for Atlanta. The Falcons haven't made any significant moves on the offensive side of the ball - I just feel he will be allowed to do more this season by the coaching staff.

RB - Ryan Mathews - I know the Chargers line may have some issues run-blocking but I love this rookie's potential. He's a physical runner with a surprising burst. I can see him going for 1200 plus this season.

WR - Michael Crabtree - He showed a lot of promise after missing several games due to the holdout. Alex Smith also showed signs of life under center as well. If Smith continues his progression, Crabtree could have a huge season.

TE - Jermichael Finley - Last season was a nice preview of what the kid can do. Expect to see him join the TE elite with Clark, Gates and Witten.

DEF - Oakland Raiders - Yes, I said it - the Raiders! They made some nice pickups with Wimbley and Henderson. Also had a a very strong defensive draft with McClain, Daniels and Heard. Keeping Asomugha was key as well.

Cutler is going to be terrible again, easily one of the most overrated QB's/players period in recent memory, both in real life and in FFL.

QB - Chad Henne (MIA) - He finally has a go-to WR in Brandon Marshall. I'm not sure how under the radar this one is since IMO it's a no-brainer, but I think he is going to be a top-5 fantasy QB this yr.

RB - C.J. Spiller (BUF) - I think he's going to have a rookie campaign similar to the one Reggie Bush had in '06. I'm not positive, but I think he will be used in the return game, and barring any nagging injuries that plagued him in college, he can be a triple threat impact player in the Bush/Harvin/Hester mold.

WR - Hakeem Nicks (NYG) - Steve Smith is Eli's favorite target right now, and I expect Nicks to be that guy by the end of the season. Big, strong, fast WR with great hands. Should have a huge year.

QB -
Joe Flacco - Adding A. Boudin to the rest of those weapons, Flacco is going to have a field day.

RB -

Donald Brown - He'll overtake the top spot in Indy's backfield by the end of the season

WR -

Michael Crabtree - Imagine what he could do with a full training camp and season under his belt

Jacoby Jones - He's going to be the clear #2 behind Andre Johnson by the end of the season

TE -

G. Finley - Packers are going to win that division and Finley's going to be a big part of the reason why

This seems absolute crazy talk to me. Aaron Rogers, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers, Matt Shaubb etc should easily out perform him.

I think that may happen, but being the #1 back on the worst rushing attack in the league won't get you much. If I am not mistaken Addai is in the last year of his contract, so he may have a really good year.

I like all these picks a lot.
